The One Room Challenge Linking Party ... week 3

Welcome to week 3!!!

I am in the process of redecorating our outside screened porch and surrounding deck area and linking up with 83 other bloggers courtesy of Calling It Home!!  If you missed last week ... you can catch up here and here!!   I am in shock that the challenge is at the half way point ... I have sooo much to do!
As a reminder ... here is my inspiration picture courtesy of the amazing Mary McDonald!!!

Tons of blue and white, simple presentation, complimentary rattan to balance, the amazing green of nature ... perfection!

This week's progress ...

All fabric arrived!

All cushions have been dropped off to upholsterer.  The tops and sides will be the stripe and they will be welted in the solid navy!

4 pillows will be the amazing starting point Chinoiserie fabric!

I found this amazing chair last week before I left for the lake.  I will lacquer it white and the cushion will be navy welted in white.  I grabbed 4 of those chevron outdoor pillows from Target.  The green fabric you see in the chair above is for three small accent pillows.  Two for the head chairs of the table on the outer deck and one for the chair shown!

I bought this amazing bar cart from Pier One!!  I ordered it in white and it should be here in a week.  Please excuse the crappy picture ... I could not find one online so I had to hop over to the local store to snap this one and I guess I snapped it before it focused!  Oops!!  I am planning to style it up with all my blue and white melamine and Ball jars!  Perfect for the first soiree!

My thrifted mirror has a painting plan!  It will be navy gloss with gold accents.  As soon as the weather provides ... this baby is getting a DIY makeover!

Finally made some decisions on the eating area ...

I had been hunting a good table for six or more and been coming up empty.  Yesterday I was in Target and I stopped and looked at this table design.  Loved the length, loved the umbrella, loved the two end chairs.

Lawyer's father made a similar table when the boys were young.  It had been sitting on the side of our deck covered in a tarp as my painting table.  Until yesterday afternoon ...

Just needs an umbrella, two end chairs and these black chairs need new paint and some cushions.  It won't be the exact table in the picture above but it will do nicely and Lawyer will be thrilled we are using his father's table.  And it will be perfect until I find something we need for this area.  I have a great set of Vera linens for the table and they will be amazing out here!!

Picked out this umbrella yesterday along with a stand.
Check. Check.  Thank you Threshold from Target!

Moved the seating area I had been working on to the upper deck area and got it ready to be cleaned and for new cushions.  Also decided that the window you see in the upper right hand corner probably needs a window box.  Its our powder room and I think it would be adorable with some fresh plantings!

Also grabbed two big black urns for the step area.  My green thumb friend Maggi says these need some Kimberly ferns so I will be grabbing those as soon as the thermometer stops reading in the 30s.  Seriously people??  It was 80 on Saturday and as I type this it is 30 outside.  It's April and this is Georgia.

All the pots have been placed in their new homes for planting.  I will conquer that next week so they will be good and settled by week 6.

Let's take a gander at the master to do list ...

  6. Loving all of it and the colors. It is going to be one great spot .... we live on our porch year 'round ( except this week when it is 30 in Atlanta - you're correct... what's up with that?). I think the table is fantastic and perfect. I love furniture with a story and a past. I love to stroll Target and Homegoods but I'm always a sucker for the furniture that has been used, loved and needs a new spot!! A coat of wax or poly and it will be the place of many more family memories!! Looking good!!

  9. Wow! You have made amazing progress. Love all the white and navy. Also love the rattan chair... Maybe leave it natural? I think it would provide a nice natural juxtaposition.
