Window options ...

I have been working on my DIY mud room wall this week and the whole time I am working I see the window to my left.  Yes, lonely little window ... I see you there asking for love!

My vision for this window includes a roman shade.  I spotted that amazing picture above on Pinterest while I was pulling inspiration pictures for the room and it has stuck with me.  If it is to be a roman shade it must include a monogram.

As I have been working on the room I realize that the space above the window will need some love.  Yes, the wall will be covered in the amazing Rifle Paper Co. wallpaper, but as you know I will still want to take it to the next level.

I see a pelmet ... and based on the fact that the window will be a white shade with green trim and a matching green monogram I think the pelmet needs to be made of one of the fabrics I have chosen for the space.  I had to make adjustments to the fabrics once the amazing Emily McCarthy for Cotton + Quill fabrics arrived and the green was richer than I had planned for.  But please note ... richer is GOOD!!!

Here are my pictures I have pulled for your vote ...

Option 1 ... matching pelmet with cut out base and trim

Option 2 ... large plain pelmet in printed fabric

Option 3 ... shaped pelmet in printed fabric with to die for trim

Option 4 ... plain pelmet with monogram and trim on roman shade in printed green fabric

What are your thoughts?  I already have what I think is the best option chosen but I can be easily swayed so I would love your feedback.  And feel free to combine pieces of each option to make an even better plan for me.  I am totally open to anything fabulous!  And please do comment ... I have a little happy set aside for the most convincing comment and yes, it is a Lilly for Target sursie!

I had to make sure you didn't fall asleep or move on to another more exciting blog and post.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts and tune in tomorrow for week 4 of the One Room Challenge.

Did I just type 4?  YIKES!!!

  1. This is a toughie. Although I LOVE option one, I have to go with option 4 , simply because your roman shade will most likely be up most if the time and you won't be able to see the gorgeous monogram. With option 4, you'll be able to see it all the time. I think the cornice should be pretty deep so that you can use a larger monogram. Having said all this, I'll love whatever you choose because each one is fabulous!

  5. You absolutely MUST use the monogrammed pelmet of option 4! I know you can find some fabulous trim instead of just plain and boring as that isn't you at all. Can't wait to see it (and am thinking I really need to copy your plan for the window over our kitchen sink - even though it only looks out onto our screened porch).

  7. I have to vote with the majority and say large monogram on the pelmet unless.... the Roman shade is fabricated so that the bottom fold is high enough up that the remaining part of the shade that hangs down is fairly wide and could sport a large monogram. Then it would always show and be lower than on the pelmet and more visible. Does that make sense?? Or if it doesn't actually need to function and is more faux Roman then again design the bottom part after the last fold to hang down and monogram that. I hope that makes sense - I can soooo see it in my mind LOL

  8. Well, first I have to tell you that I saw the lampshades that you did for the PKL room at the JL of High Point showhouse today. Loved the shades and WOW the room was fabulous!! I am so crushing on the emerald green. And the Kips Bay book was lying on the bed.It was great! So for the window, you must use the gorgeous green for trim and monogram. I like the cutout pellet because it adds a touch of chinoiserie that I think would look great w/ the wallpaper.

  9. I really like option 4. The monogrammed roman is a beauty but does not seem functional.😀 room is coming along awesome.

  11. My fave is #4, with the green print trim and the monogram appliqued in the same green print. Whatever you decide will be good.
