Morning Routines ...

Have you ever wondered what it was like in the life of a successful person?  I do this quite a bit ... and definitely when it comes to women.  I would love to be privy to the daily routine of maybe Sarah Jessica Parker (I will always see her as Carrie), Anna Wintour or even Emma Stone (major girl crush).

Lucky for me My Domaine printed an article giving us the insight into 10 successful women and their morning routines.  I loved every second of it ... and the best part, they aren't that much different than everyone else.

The difference, their commitment and their focus.

The article interviews 10 women about their morning routines.  I will admit, I was only familiar with 3 of them, but I enjoyed reading each and every one.

Anna Wintour ... plays tennis for an hour at 5;45 am before her 6:45 am blowout.  And I am sure she is dressed chic for that intense hour of exercise.  Don't you agree?  She says it prepares her for long meetings,  "anything over seven minutes".

I read up a little more on Anna to learn that she is 65, 5 foot 7 (I always thought her petite) and has worn her hair in her signature bob since she was 14.

I promise you if my hair style was still the same as it was when I was 14, there would be no profile photos of me ... and I mean anywhere!  Think Kelly McGillis in Top Gun.  That vision in your head, you would be correct!

Gwenyth Paltrow starts her day with warm water with lemon.  She also exercises from 10 am to noon.  No wonder I have a major crush on her figure.  She works for every inch of the toned body.

Victoria Beckham rises early, showers and gets herself ready before eating fruit, peppermint tea and a double espresso.  I can totally relate to the espresso.  No alarm should come without it.

Doing some research I discovered more interesting tidbits about the routines of successful people ...

Tory Burch only blow drys her hair for a party.  She leaves the house with it wet and in a low pony tail and prefers the way it looks when it air dries.

Jenna Lyons spends 5 minutes on her makeup and 3 minutes getting dressed.  Her loves getting dressed and says "there is nothing I like more than getting dressed".  She is also a huge fan of coffee ice cream and does her best to "taste as close to coffee ice cream as I can".

The editor of Lucky Magazine, Eva Chen chooses her outfit from the shoes up.  How fun is that?  I have definitely done this when I bought a new pair ... maybe I should do it more often.

The president of Starbucks, Michelle Gass, gets up at 4:30 am to run.  I just assumed she would be treated to a venti, triple, skinny, extra hot, no whip something.  Didn't you?

And my favorite tid bit came from Michelle Obama who says she changed her mind about getting up early a while back.  "I just started thinking, if I had to get up to go to work, I'd get up and go to work.  If I had to get up to take care of my kids, I'd get up to do that.  But when it comes to yourself, then it's suddenly, 'Oh, I can't get up at 4:30.  So I had to change that."

She is so right.  You should see me when I have to get up to go somewhere fun.  I bounce out of bed like I'm six and its Christmas morning!

My morning routine?

I get up at 6:30, read my devotional, drink coffee in bed while reading emails and catching up on Instagram, get out of bed at 7:30 to take Little Bit to school and then come home to blog, answer emails and start my day.  Most days I don't leave the house before 10 unless I have to be somewhere before.  I spend very little time on my makeup and hair and spend the most time deciding what to wear.  Typically while I am getting ready I am playing music ... I find it relaxes me.

And the only strict routine I have is my coffee.  It is always french roast with a splash of cream, very hot and in a favorite mug.  I find I feel so off if I skip it.

What is your morning routine?

  2. This was a fun read. Thanks for sharing. I just can't get over the fact that I seldom, if ever, see Victoria Beckham smile. I wonder if that has anything to do with her routine!

  3. Family is important to us and it’s at the heart of who we are.
Our quality is the groundwork we stand on and this consists of three key principles: style,
    functionality and craftsmanship.
