Apple Cider Sangria

I am in love with apple cider this time of year.  It just feels like the drink you are supposed to have on hand.  Don't you agree?

Fall ... check.  Apple cider ... check.

I enjoy my apple cider like this.  Apple cider, ginger ale and bourbon. Oh yes, and a darling glass and a stirrer.  Simple enough, right?

I have been craving sangria lately.  Maybe its the cold weather or maybe its the fact that I am supposed to be avoiding all things yeast related for my migraines.  The neurologist says no wine and now I have the biggest craving ever.  Life just seems to work that way.

I found three amazing recipes for sangria, one with red wine, one with white and another with white and spices. They all sound amazing to me.  But really, how can you go wrong with cinnamon sticks, apple cider and cut up fruit?

Don't you just want to make a batch and have your friends over?

Yeah, me too.

1 bottle of pinot grigio
2 1/2 cups of fresh apple cider
1 cup club soda
1/2 cup ginger brandy
3 honey crisp apples, chopped
2 pears, chopped

Mix together and chill for at least one hour before serving.

This recipe sounded absolutely divine if you like more spice to your drink.  In my opinion, the more ingredients, the better the result!

1 bottle of pinot grigio
3 cups of apple cider
3/4 cup light rum
3 or 4 honeycrisp apples sliced
3 - 2 inch slices of orange peel
4 cinnamon sticks
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice
2 12 oz bottle of ginger beer

Mix all ingredients together except the ginger beer.  Chill for at least 1 hour.  Pour sangria in glass and top off with ginger beer.

Yummy!!

This one caught my eye as well ... a red wine version if that's your jam.

1 bottle of pinot noir
2 cups apple cider
1 chopped apple
1 chopped pear
3 cinnamon sticks

We are headed to Blue Ridge on Sunday for a family weekend ... I know what I will be trying out for the group.  They all sound super fabulous to me.

Happy Friday!
