Jayes Studio + TomTom and Co.

I am so excited to share this news with you I can hardly stand it!  My dear friend Thomas Ard has joined forces with the leader in painted toleware, Jayes Studio, to add his fabulous designs to their fabulous tole pieces and the products hit stores in just a few weeks.  Think fabulous pieces you will want for yourself and every single person on your gift list this holiday season. As you can spy from the image above this collection of blue and white pieces is right up my alley but there are so many amazing pieces to chose from in a number of color stories so you truly can pick from almost any combination.

Can you tell I am literally giddy?

If you aren't familiar with Jayes let me back up just a little bit and tell you their story.  I love how it all came together and that the company is family owned and committed to its customers!  Meeting the team at July market was such a treat for me!

The Jayes Studio StoryJaye’s story began in 1976 as an importer of handmade jewelry. Our founder’s love of color, passion for art, and appreciation for design, was the beginning of Jaye’s Studio hand-painted tole. While visiting the antique district of Knotting Hill in London in 1991, Kam and Jaye purchased an antique tole tub that would perfectly organize their collection of art and design books. The tub became the inspiration for Jaye’s Studio; traditional tole hand-painted with fun, fashionable prints.

Today, their son Lalan and his wife Aditi, have taken over the helm of the company. Based in New England they work with the same passion for tole and continue to grow their unique brand in a global marketplace. The attention to detail necessary to paint each Jaye’s piece requires talented artists only found in rural India. These painters are masters of temple painting and the traditional Indian art of miniature painting known as “pichvai”. Today, these master artists paint each Jaye’s piece with the same care and attention that they would give a miniature work of art.

The press release for their new collaboration makes me so happy!  I am thrilled that Thomas has another amazing outlet for his incredible work. I know first hand the beauty that Thomas can create as I sit and type this and stare at my beautiful foyer.  Not only is Thomas so incredibly talented but he is truly a kind and genuine person.  I am beyond excited for this amazing collab!

Thomas Ard is the new artist in residence for Jaye’s Studio. His brand, TomTom and Company, is known for it’s colorful, yet traditional aesthetic. TomTom believes you should live colorfully in all aspects of life. His whimsical approach on life pairs beautifully with the Jaye’s Studio lifestyle brand. He has created a collection of home accessories that blend his artistic vision to the everyday toleware pieces we have loved for years.

“Jaye’s timeless yet creative approach to toleware, is unlike anything in the market. I love knowing each design is hand painted in their studio by a team of skilled artists using traditional folk techniques. In a time of commercialized printing, their hand-painted approach makes their products treasured heirloom items that can be enjoyed for generations to come. I’m very excited for this partnership” - TomTom
