The Charleston Collection

I am so excited about this post today ... this is something that I have been working on for almost a month so I am thrilled to be able to share it with you today.  The moment Mary Huddleston and I finished working together on our Easter collaboration we immediately started talking about what we wanted to do next.  It was a conversation over coffee before I left town and the last thing we said was ... so what are we doing next?  The moment the trip to Charleston came together the first thing on the list was a second tablescape. I knew we wanted to pull together a stunning table, but we wanted to do something more than set an incredible table to inspire others and show off amazing brands, we wanted to create something.

As we were talking about vendors and businesses we wanted to use we settled on our darling and super talented friend Caroline Hernandez of Sweet Caroline Designs.  She is actually friends to both of us and we may or may not have argued discussed who knew her better?  #sillygirls.  One thing we didn't argue over was how talented she is and how this would be an ideal opportunity to showcase her fabulous new custom paper line.  A couple of texts later and the next thing we knew it was not only a three way collaboration but it was a specialized collaborative paper line known as ... The Charleston Collection.

Our goal was to pull together our talents and resources and create a fabulous table + custom paper line that would give you all the feels of the locale in which it was designed.  Mary was feeling very orange + pink (two of my favorite colors) and with a little digging on her part discovered the amazing La Tavola linens that became the backdrop for the whole event.  Mary is a former event planner and it doesn't take her any time at all to pull together gorgeous mood boards for anything running through her brain.  She is gifted when it comes to planning events.

If you aren't familiar with La Tavola Fine Linens you will be so excited to learn this fabulous company allows you to rent their fine linens.  They carry the most beautiful linens and release new collections seasonally.  We chose one of the brand new spring/summer pieces and designed the entire table based of the pink + orange Anna linen.  I absolutely loved this cloth and was thrilled to use it.  We had a number of napkins to choose from to match the tablecloth.  The choices were almost too hard but we settled on the Ballard in Flamingo.  I loved the napkins so much I wanted to purchase them on the spot and take them home.  The Ballard is such a pretty pattern, and it comes in the most perfect pink.

We simply sent Caroline the images of the linens we chose and she came back with such amazing custom options we had to choose every single one of them.  What I love about this collaboration is that I truly believe it provides so many options.  You can use it to create a pink + orange table of your own, you can rent the tablecloth for an event of your own or you can purchase the paper line in one of the options available to host a party, event, as note cards, enclosure cards, or honestly anything you can dream up.

Can you even believe all the details of the invitation above ... the colors are stunning and the orange bamboo detail is fabulous.  I love the addition of the blue + white porcelain in some of the choices, it is so southern, so spring and most definitely ... so Charleston.

When we found ourselves looking for a location to put all the pieces together my dear friend Krystine offered up her patio at her new house.  I was thrilled to be able to add her to our gathering and to see the house she designed and built herself and I can tell you it did not disappoint.  We set a long table and seating area for four on the other end of the patio and it was perfect.  I love her patio, it extends the length of her house, is rather deep and is open to her rather large and stunning backyard. It is the perfect place to host guests and friends for dinner, drinks ... or both.

I was also so happy to be with Krystine and her darling new baby.  He was the most fun addition to our afternoon of work, that smile is just amazing. I drove into her driveway, blazed past her and immediately dove in to kiss all over his face.  He is just precious.  I have the most amazing and precious friends who I love to spend time with and KE is one of the best.  💗

With details like stunning florals, fabulous dinner ware, gold flatware, woven napkin rings, and macaroons chosen to match we created what I believe is the perfect table. I just love all the colors of spring with the pink, orange, yellow and touch of green.  I think this is the best table I have ever worked on, I just love all the pieces we chose.

Caroline's paper additions are perfect, and add just the pop you need.  I love having a printed menu set out so that guests can see what they will be dining on, and the extra layer is ideal for design. Caroline is a master of custom work and creates so many beautiful things.  You will love her website and all of the beautiful work she has on display.

I could just stare at these details all day long.  The table includes all of my favorite things ... fabulous florals, incredible flatware, gorgeous linens, napkin rings, place cards, glassware for days and even a sweet treat.  Yes please to all of it.

I love the addition of the paper liner in the envelopes, the details are everything.

I created a fun (+ delicious) cocktail to share and to celebrate our hard work and amazing collaboration which I will share with you tomorrow. We used these darling Low Country cups + napkins along with gorgeous ginger jar stir sticks for our drinks.  I think I squealed out loud when I saw them for the very first time, they are so amazing.  I get so excited planning for time with my friends and creating a signature drink is one of my favorite things to do. When our time together is over and I have one later it takes me right back to to our time together.  The Charleston Cocktail is pink, sweet but in the best way and with a touch of orange and extra mint.  I think it is perfect.

Every single time I see the darling paper items Caroline created I just get so very excited ... they are so beautiful. I know they will be loved and used to host so many beautiful events for so many darling things.

Aren't my friends so darling ... and so perfectly matched with our event?  I love that they showed up with the exact same shoes.  We are all so very alike in so many ways it is almost uncanny.   Showing up in town with the exact same luggage, packing so many of the same things and planning the table and details it was so apparent to me we were meant to work together.  It is just so easy and I love when work is fun and comes together like magic.

The only thing missing in this photo is our darling and uber talented photographer Andrea Kinnear.  She hit the ground running when she walked in the door and was just amazing.  It was a super fabulous quick trip with a meeting of five creatives from The Southern C.  Just one more example of the many reasons I love working with other alums, they are truly each so incredible.

You can shop all the pieces from the Charleston Collection here.  I own a few of the pieces and I have loved them.  I used the fold over notes to write thank yous after our trip and just used the gift tags on teacher gifts.  The colors are just so pretty and the details, I simply can't tell you how good they are. We named them for the city we worked in knowing it would not be a one time thing.  We have already chosen our next location and are putting details together to work on the next project.  Our goal is to bring you inspiring businesses + linens + paper you can use when creating an event with a similar feel or location.

Stay tuned ...

When the details were done and the images all shot we got to sit and enjoy each other, a drink and each other.  I adore these girls and their amazing talents.  The house was the perfect location for our launch, so perfectly Charleston.

Happy Thursday to you all ... the longest, yet one of the best weeks.  See you tomorrow for the cocktail recipe!  🍹
