Book list

Ok .. here is what I have compiled so far ...

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
Sarah's Key
The Gurnsey Literary & Potato Peel Society
Hotel on the corner of Bitter and Sweet *
The Glass Castle
Still Alice
The Book Thief *
The Secret Life of CeeCee Honeycut *
The house on first street
South of Broad *
The Overnight Socialite
Prep

* recommended more than others

I have decided not to read Water for Elephants ... my friend M-A says that it was just as good as the movie so watch the movie and ditch the book.  Um ... ok!

Thoughts?  Anything to add on ... take off?  What should I read first?  Remember my husband lives in Kansas so I have lots of free time at night to read!!

xo,
MPM

eta ... started with The Secret Life of CeeCee Honeycutt ... so far I am a little confused!

  1. To add: Divergent, by Veronica Roth and Fire by Kristin Cashore - both excellent books!!!

Thanks for these ideas, I'm compiling my summer reading list today and will add a few of these :)

  2. Do you like mystery novels {detectives}?? If so, anything by Robert Parker is a fun read. His novels are exciting right out of the gate! Dixie Cash's novels are hilarious. I mean laughing out loud hilarious. Another book that I really enjoyed was "Can You Keep a Secret"? Very funny, too. Great plane/beach reads! xoxo

  3. "Eden Close" by Anita Shreve is easily in my top 5 books of all time. Can't beat Pat Conroy and Anne Rivers Siddons (her older stuff) for wonderful characters. Two of my favorite authors are Jodi Picoult and Jacquelyn Mitchard, the first ever author of Oprah's book club. Finally, another thing I started doing years ago is reading at least one biography / autobiography each summer. (not sure why - I'm crazy..haha). They now have become my favorite genre - it's AMAZING to read about the lives of the rich, famous, business people, athletes, etc. I've just purchased Rob Lowe's new book after reading rave reviews. Happy reading! *swoon*
