Design Feature: Evelyn Henson

If you aren't familiar with the darling Evelyn Henson you are in for the biggest treat today.  Evelyn is a bright and happy burst of color in the art world with her darling depictions of the ordinary things in life.  The first time I spotted Evelyn's work was on Instagram and I haven't been able to quit her since.  I currently own three pieces of EH art and have no plans to stop there.
Recently I interviewed Evelyn for my "From the Desk Of" series for The Southern Coterie blog.  You can read my interview with her and learn so many incredible things about her.  I absolutely adore interviewing people, it just speaks to my Nancy Drew alter ego.  My favorite question was this one ..

First of all, tell me about Evelyn Henson.  How did your business start and how has it grown?
I started selling art on Etsy a week after I graduated from college and moved back home with my parents in May 2013.  It was really a hobby at first and also something to put on my resume.  I had been painting obsessively over the last year, so I just thought, “why not?”.  Thanks to the support of friends and family who were quick to spread the word, my little Etsy shop slowly became more successful than my job hunt.  I never thought I’d be so grateful that I couldn’t find a job!  I lived at my parents house in Georgia for the first year, where I eventually created my own website and expanded from just prints to a variety of different products.
I love that she turned a hobby into a job and a very successful one.  She has expanded from prints to so many other items, one even more adorable than the last!  And I promise you she is just as kind and adorable as her depictions.  Her mugs are my new obsession since I am a coffee cup #hoarder.

Evelyn released her Spring 2016 line today to coincide with the beginning of Spring.  I love each and every one of them so much ... I am thinking these would make the most amazing gallery wall in an office.  I may have to do this and then just trade them out each season.  Perfect plan, right?  Speaking of gallery walls, she gathered the 10 best gallery wall styling tips in this blog post.   Her blog is a must read for me.
I have said it before and I shall say it again.  I just love artists.  I painted some in high school but never developed it past that point.  I do, however, love to paint rooms.  I find it so relaxing and love a finished project.  I am so drawn to artists.  I love to see them create things and bring simple objects to life.  Evelyn has so many incredible prints on her site, but her Instagram is my absolute favorite.  She paints daily and posts so many fun things.  My favorites are her works of the most ordinary things, like peanut butter, sugar packets and french fries with ketchup.  They are simply amazing!
Evelyn created an original piece just for me with nine elements that are completely me.  I love it so much and it is framed and hanging among the gallery wall in my office.  Every single time I spot it I smile.  Don't you just love it?  I think she captured me perfectly!!
Follow along with Evelyn as she continues to create amazing pieces out of the ordinary.  And remember this sweet girl when she starts selling her pieces for incredible prices.  It will happen, it is only a matter of time before the world loves her as much as the rest of us!!
Happy Monday ... and cheers to the second day of Spring!
