Masters Season

Today is the opening day for the Masters, and for us here in Georgia, it is a huge day.  The weather is absolutely perfect with the azaleas in full blown.  Gorgeous greens and blue skies for days.  For the next four days the world will be glued to the television watching the sport unfold on the most famous golf course in the world.

Augusta National Golf Club, built by Bobby Jones as his dream course, opened in January 1933.  The first Masters tournament was played in 1934 with Horton Smith beating Craig Wood, edging him out by a single stroke.  The Masters is the first of four championship games and is the only tournament to be played on the same course each year, the last day always scheduled for the second Sunday in April. The first coveted "Green Jacket" was worn by Sam Snead in 1949.  The jacket is taken home buy the champion and worn for a year and then returned to the club after the next champion is crowned.  A repeat champion will receive the same jacket he has won in previous years.

I have not had the pleasure of attending the Masters, but the Hubs has and had quite a magical experience.  I would love to attend just to people watch, take in the experience and, of course, eat and drink my way around the course.

Sarah Vickers and her darling husband Kiel attended last year and I stalked watched their Instagram and her blog for all of their amazing photos.  Typical attire for women is something monogrammed and of course all of your new Lilly fashions.   Men wear their favorite gingham or a golf shirt and either shorts or khaki pants.  It is all very southern and perfect.  Sarah chose the perfect combination of New Englander in the south, a darling pair of shorts, chambray top and sweater around the shoulders.  True prep through and through.

The standard food for a true Masters experience would be sandwiches, egg salad and pimento cheese specifically.  I buy my pimento cheese since they are so many amazing versions available at my fingertips.  My new favorite is this amazing version from Callie's Biscuits.  Can you say ah-mazing? If you want to keep your sandwiches as close to the original as possible I would make these pimento cheese sandwiches and these egg salad.  Oh, and can you please invite me over?  I will bring a fabulous hostess gift!

Once again I will be watching along with the Hubs via my house and the television.  I think my favorite part of watching is the last day when on a rare occasion a young player comes from the back and blows us all away.  I am a sucker for a good story and a cute family.

Let me know if you have an extra ticket and want me to join you on the course, I am just a few hours and a good hostess gift away from joining you! xo ...

Don't forget to enter to win the Pink Ibiza tote from Huff Harrington ... the giveaway ends tomorrow at midnight!
