Watermelon Margaritas

I told you last week I made the yummiest margaritas and today I am sharing the recipe.  I don't know what sparked this idea but the recipe started with a conversation between a friend and I.  I think we started with pink cocktails and it just sprung from there landing on a watermelon margarita.  Since a number of fruits are so fresh right now, watermelon being one of them, I thought it was a fabulous idea and immediately heading to the market for supplies.  Watermelon, limes, some ingredients from the bar and within an hour I was sipping the yummiest Watermelon Margarita!

I used watermelon juice, but you can easily blend up fresh watermelon if you have it.  I like to dice mine and freeze some before blending it, I think the frozen watermelon just adds something, but it can be made with just juice if you were lazy like me.  😉 I found the watermelon juice to be really delicious ... and so user friendly when I was in a time crunch.  I used the watermelon I bought for dinner and then added a few pieces, along with a lime wedge, to garnish the drink. When I was shooting the tablescape I added sprig of mint for color and an extra level of pretty, but it isn't needed and didn't add anything in the way of flavor to the drink.

I am telling you ... these drinks are so de-lish!!

Watermelon Margaritas

2 oz Watermelon, juice
1 oz Lime juice, fresh
1/2 oz simple syrup (or more to taste)
1 1/2 oz Grand marnier
2 oz Tequila, I use Casamigos

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker filled with ice.  Shake well and pour into a glass filled with ice and rimmed with lime juice and course salt.  Garnish with a small watermelon wedge + a lime wedge. I used watermelon juice, but you can blend watermelon and then strain out the seeds if that is what you have.  I highly recommend freezing the watermelon cubes before blending. 🍉

I found this recipe while I was searching for an idea and it sounds incredible.  To my second margarita Thursday evening I added a splash of rose and it was so very good.  I can tell you I will be trying these as soon as I can.

Have the best day, and tonight with your tacos have a watermelon margarita on me
