I think I honestly had been waiting for this Friday afternoon for so long I might have danced in thekitchen when Lawyer arrived home and we officially started our long weekend as a family. It has been a long month for our family, more news later, and we needed some serious quality down time.
My husband is known for his grilling skills. We started the weekend with a fabulous dinner and some porch sitting. Miles and I sat and watched him cook while the music played and I enjoyed a well needed cocktail. My choice for the evening ... Bullet bourbon and Ginger Beer. #yum.
I have long since loved all things Jackie Kennedy and I posted this photo of her on Instagram on Saturday morning. It seemed absolutely perfect for the beginning of summer. The incredible pink cushions, the vintage yellow gingham dress. I die. I pinned quite a few photos like this to my Classic Beauty board.
Do you follow me on Instagram? I post way more of our life there so please follow along for some real time shots. Let me know if you are a new follower so I can show you some love!
The kids slept in so Lawyer and I enjoyed a quiet brunch for two. He surprised me with a mimosa and then insisted we snap a picture. That sweet man, he is learning. The life of a blogger's husband.
I am a huge fan of mimosas. He added the strawberries and I added a splash of St. Germain. They were de-licious!
Monday we enjoyed a fabulous day with friends who joined us for dinner, drinks and dominoes. We set the table in the kitchen expecting a storm. Hydrangeas, flags and Blue Willow as I mentioned in the Memorial Day planning post last week. I could not have asked for a better evening. Laughter in my kitchen is the best medicine and we had the absolute best time. I lost horribly but that isn't unusual, those kids are quite competitive!
For more pictures of our table check out the Memorial Day board on Pinterest. And for tons of blue and white inspiration check here.
My dear friend Allyson made the most amazing Lemonade Punch and we sipped on the porch and enjoyed a lovely evening.
Lemonade Punch
Cathead HoneysuckleVodka
Fresca Citrus Soda
Simply Lemonade
Splash of Orange Juice
Fresh Lime
Mint
She also made two incredible pies. I love all things coconut and this pie was quite incredible. Sweetened condensed milk, cool whip, cream cheese, caramel, pecans and coconut. Basically crack in a pie crust. I may or may not have had a piece for breakfast.
I would be remiss if I didn't speak of the reason we are blessed with an incredible holiday to celebrate. We are truly the land of the free because of the brave and none of this is lost on me. My father was a Marine. Both Lawyer's family and mine served in the armed forces and each of them was lucky enough to return home. As we sat down on Monday evening to enjoy our meal I was struck with the reason we get to giggle over a long meal. We are FREE. Many have laid down their lives for us for that FREEDOM. May we never take it for granted!
Happy Tuesday lovies ... its a nice short week!
Looks like a fab weekend Paige!

I need to move to your area (just for the great cocktails). :)
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing the recipe for the pie? It looks like an amazing breakfast food.
