Running For The Roses

Wow, we have a huge weekend ahead with two super fun days to celebrate, Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby.  Since I love both of these fabulous events I have had to get creative to see how I can make the most of both, yet giving each its own celebration.  I think I have the perfect plan for us that includes both adults and kids and allows us to enjoy each of them in a relaxed setting!

We are planning a brunch for Saturday morning with ham biscuits, pimento cheese, nuts, fruit, darling cookies and, of course, mint juleps. Sounds yummy, don't you think?  For the table I am once again using Pomegranate linens. I think they have the best prints and most amazing selections!  I chose the Pick Six tablecloth, napkins, coffee mugs and also the Trifecta napkins.  The collection is currently on sale with code DERBY25.  How perfect are they for not only Derby but also Steeplechase and any celebration if you are a horse lover?  I think they are truly so darling!

I will set the table after dinner tomorrow and it will be ready for Saturday am!  I am excited with everything I pulled to use.  I borrowed the darling horses and ribbons from my sweet friend Kristi's daughter who is an avid rider.  She had so many ribbons to chose from and I am so thankful she said yes when I asked.  Aren't they stunning?

I have paired it with some fun antique silver and all of my favorite mint julep cups, both the regular and monogram style and silver candlesticks.  I love the traditional feel the silver adds to such a fun pairing of prints.  For plates I mixed a green dinner plate I have had for a while from Kate Spade with these fun scalloped salad plates.  I love the simple blue edge on the scallop, it's simple and perfect.  The darling horse cocktail stirrers were purchased from Merchantile + Co. and are currently sold out.  #sadface

Stay tuned ... I will be working on it more tomorrow and then of course will be sharing a few snippets Saturday mid morning!!

If you wish to make a Mint Julep worth $1,000 click here ... and there is also a great recipe for a Woodford Spire which I think sounds amazing!

Happy Derby ... only two days to go!
