A few weeks ago when I was heading to Arlington, Virginia for the weekend I asked for a great recommendation for a book to read. I wanted something light, uplifting and just enjoyable. I got so many amazing recommendations which I promised to share with you, and today I have those recommendations for you along with the book club I will be joining on February 1. I am really excited because by joining I will be guaranteed to have read 12 books by the end of the year which is more books in one year than I have read in the last three. (As I type that I realize how sad that really is!) I call that a major goal buster, and I am really excited about it.
Do not get me wrong, I really enjoy reading. As a child you could never get my nose out of the book. I think kids and schedules got in the way and I just put my love for reading on the back burner. I always read on vacation and on road trips when the Hubs drives. Other than that I really haven't made it a priority to read. How silly is that?
I love reading all about other people and how dedicated they are to their reading. I asked a friend of mine how she fits it in and she was so helpful. She told me to keep the book with me at all times. Pull it out in car line, while waiting at doctor appointments, when I am waiting for others, before bed and most of all when I am usually pulling out my phone to kill a few minutes. What great advice and advice I will be taking to heart. I will keep my book with me and read a chapter here and there and before I know it I will finish my monthly book. Heck, I may read two or three per month.
When I asked so many of you gave me great book recommendations. I am adding the list of the ones I got here in my Amazon store for you to check out. I got the most recommendations to read One Day In December and Where The Crawdads Sing. I purchased One Day In December because it was the only one I could find in my five minute trip to the bookstore. I would have purchased both. I read my choice during my weekend in Arlington on the plane up and back along with a little bit in the mornings each day and I finished it on the plane ride home. What a fabulous book, such a quick read and uplifting little British story about a couple that "meets" (by sight only) on a train ride and then the next 10 years. It is soo good and very sweet! I can not recommend it enough.
I am super excited about my sweet friend Ashley's new book club which I am most definitely joining, anyone want to join with me. It begins February 1 and she picks the best books. She is one of those who I envy with the amount of books she reads each month and I know how crazy her schedule is, so if she can do it, then I can do it as well. The four books she recommends in the blog post are all on my radar, with one I just spoke of above. I am thrilled to add the other two she says are good to my list and since she didn't love the fourth, I will give that one a good
You can follow along with Ashley's blog to see which book she recommends, I am really excited to see and I can't wait to get started. It is something I have wanted to do for a while, and since this book club doesn't require a set meet up, I can most definitely commit.
Here's to more books read in 2019, I already have one down and I am reading a second right now ... I will call that a major score so far for me!!
Happy Wednesday to you all ... 📘🎉
