Last Minute NYE Prep

For many years the Hubs and I have stayed in for New Years Eve but this year we made plans to spend the evening with friends at their new house.  There is just something about this year that makes me want to do all sorts of special and different things and we are starting with tonight.  Since we didn't have plans until a day or so ago I am most definitely pulling some fun together last minute and I thought I would share how I made it happen.  I am sure I am not the only one needing some last minute help so here are my thoughts, tips + tricks.

The invitation came with the direction to bring a snack to share + my favorite drink ... how easy right?  Since I am extra in all ways (according to my kids) I am packing two different snacks and I already tested out a fun new drink to take tomorrow.  Taste testing and perfecting is always the most fun for me, and now I have a fun drink to share with all of you.

The drink started with the items I had on hand and branched out from there.  I used pomegranates to decorate so I knew I wanted to use the seeds for something fun and a cocktail it is.   I also had left over lemons + fresh rosemary and that instantly became a great garnish.  From our Christmas punch I had some cranberry juice and I quickly pulled together something really delicious.  I made it last night for me as a single cocktail but tonight I will make it in a pitcher and share in bulk.  I think it will be just as yummy in a punch form as it was when I crafted it as a single drink.  It is really so good!

Oh, I could even make an ice ring ... 🎉

1 bottle of Simply Orange Cranberry Cocktail
1 Bottle of Prosecco
1/2 cup Grand Marnier (or more to taste)
Fresh Rosemary Sprigs
2 Lemons sliced
Pomegranate Seeds

Since I am making two snacks to share I decided to branch out on both of them.  Well, sort of ... I am not trying new foods but I am trying out a new recipe and a new source for all things cheese board related.  I follow some really fun bloggers and I decided to take the plunge with two of them.   A few of my blogger friends are always excited about their Aldi finds and I am not a frequent shopper.  I think I have been twice and both times I felt confused by the selection, but this time I went in knowing I wanted to build a charcuterie board and found some amazing things.  I filled an entire shopping bag with fun finds for $30 which is great for cheese and essentials.  I even added in some truffles (which are so yummy) and some popcorn for a fun addition.  I love the idea of the truffles in a glass footed dish! Stay tuned for my finished board on stories.  After yesterday's shopping trip I am definitely a major Aldi fan.

Secondly I have watched Brittany make this baked brie so many times but have never tried it myself.  I made it last night to test it out and both Nathan and I were dying at how yummy it was.  I may or may not have eaten baked brie for dinner.  It was sooo good.  I had left over blackberries so I added them inside the dough before baking and I will most definitely add some sort of berry inside again.  I am so excited to take this tonight and pop it right into my friends oven to share.  It is really so very delicious.

When I was thinking we were celebrating at home I headed to Target to find some fun blowers and confetti to style our appetizers and fancy up our usual take out Chinese dinner.  Every single thing I used in yesterdays post I found in the dollar spot and the aisle next to every day gift wrap.  So much of it came from the dollar spot and I think it is truly soo cute. I will be wearing the headband with my outfit tonight and the rest of the items are packed up and ready to share with my friends!

Whatever you are doing tonight I hope it is truly magical ... I am really excited about a new year and a year full of brand new adventures + memories!

Happy New Year's Eve!!
