Kitchen plans ...

As I am putting the very final touches on the powder room this week I am already looking at my next room to tackle.  The kitchen and breakfast room are the largest space on the main floor after the den and definitely the most used!  As it is in any home the kitchen is the heart of the home and we are in there all the time, cooking, eating, and playing all the games.  I love our kitchen, but I did want to switch out just a few things.  We finished it in November 2015 as part of an invited participant One Room Challenge redo.  I loved it then, and I love it now, and will be changing the smallest of things.  It will be an easy upgrade ... so I have it all on the brain and the list made so that the second the rug arrives for the powder room I will be able to hit the ground running!

The biggest change I am making will be to the breakfast room ... with some new curtains and new art work above the chest.  I am moving our darling dragon to the basement for the huge basement redo I have on the books.  The pink frame will change colors but otherwise she will be hanging behind the sofa in all her glory.  I just love her so much.  I have already traded out the curtains in the space and I can not wait to show you what I purchased.  A friend was selling some I fell in love with and the rest is history.  The curtain panels that were here will become pillows for another space.

I have been looking at old photos of our newly completed kitchen in 2015 and I miss those white lamps.  One of them was bumped and broke (ugh) and so I replaced them with a pair of blue and white ones but I have been craving white in the space again.  I am on the hunt for a great pair of white similar to what I had.  I loved that they were old and cool and as Melissa Smrekar says ... "design a life you can't swipe up for" and those lamps were definitely that piece.  So ... the hunt is on

Oh, and of course new lamps = new shades. More pleated shades to come ... and I am ready after that long project to do them again. 💙

On the kitchen side I am craving a cool and scalloped hood ... but that is one of those things I need to have made and I do not even know where to begin.  Ours is a standard issue black Home Depot one that I despise.  It does the job ... but is awful to look at. I am also looking at those black counter tops ... we shall see.

I have planned a super fun project that I am so excited to share with you and to enjoy ... so details on that piece coming soon.  I am dying to enjoy it and to share the process and the person who I pulled in to help me.

So all in all ... new curtains, new lamps, different art, secret project, a rug (or two), maybe something done in the counter top area ... and I think that will help it transition from 6 years ago to today.  I can't wait, this is one I have wanted to tackle for quite a while.

Stay tuned ... more fun coming soon!

Happy Tuesday ...

  1. Hey Paige --

I found a few of those fixtures you might want to check out. Plenty availabl with a brushed silver finish but yours look gold/brass. 10"? I wasn't sure, but this might at least get you started:

This one has a bit of brass on the top of the globe -- I know you like bling: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Golden-Lighting-Dixon-Aged-Brass-Transitional-Opal-Glass-Globe-Pendant-Light/1000816754
