Summer Dessert Soirée

Happy first Monday of summer!  Anyone else love summer as much as I do?  I don't think I am ever happier than I am during the summer months. Every single thing about summer makes me so very happy and reminds me of every single thing Florida and I am just giddy. I am sure I have told you this once (or thousands) before.  This year to celebrate the official first day of summer I partnered with my amazing friend Steve McKenzie to create some amazing desserts for a dessert party using our favorite china company + some delicious Jackson Morgan Southern Cream flavors + some candles from my Summer Collection with Creative Candles.

We were both really excited to try some new things and have some creative time together.  I always love my time with Steve, he brings his A game every single time and I always learn a thing or three from him.  That is always a win, win.

When we first chatted about the desserts we wanted to create he immediately knew he wanted to make a pound cake recipe that belonged to his grandmother and I knew I was ready to try my hand at homemade ice cream. With both we would use a different flavor Jackson Morgan Cream and use it as part of the recipe.

His pound cake was incredible and my husband has been begging him for another ever since saying it was "hands down the best cake" he has ever tasted.  Steve used the Salted Caramel to make the most delicious glaze for the top.  It was easy to make, so very yummy, and the perfect addition to his magical and delicious cake.  I might have eaten a whole slice and probably half of what he sent home with me.  It is just THAT good.

Can you even with that amazing cake?  I can tell you that his whole home smelled amazing ... you must make this cake + the delicious glaze.  You can find his recipe on his blog.

I made homemade ice cream using the delicious Orange Cream flavor.  It smelled incredible, was the most beautiful light orange color and it tasted almost just like a adult creamsicle. Soo yummy and so easy to make.

I purchased this ice cream maker + storage tub.  I also grabbed a second freezer bowl to make sure I was able to make multiple flavors at once.  My friend at Williams Sonoma told me to to let the freezer bowl completely thaw before freezing and using it again to keep the freezer bowl in its best condition.  For the ice cream I used this starter (which was soooo easy) and added a cup of Whipped Orange Cream instead of 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 1/2 of half and half.

It could not have been any easier, or delicious.

The storage tubs are so easy to use and so perfect to be able to scoop out a perfect ball of ice cream.  Homemade ice cream is softer than store bought so it does melt a little faster, but it is perfect for summer and the ideal side to Steve's amazing cake.

Can you even??

Steve and I both love Mottahedeh China and were thrilled to be able to use a few of their patterns.  We used Apple Green Lace Butterfly dessert dishes + Blue Lace dessert bowls + Pink Lace tea cups & saucers.  I love how they are so similar yet the different colors make them feel so different.

The butterfly dessert plates were the stepping off point for color choices, aren't they gorgeous?

Our beautiful napkins were made for us by The Preppy Stitch, and once again, Gabrielle nailed the color combination and created a beautiful napkin. She is so talented and so very sweet, I sent her the photo of the plates, told her what I wanted and she delivered another amazing creation.

Steve makes the best espresso and we decided what goes better with a mid afternoon espresso then a little something extra?   We added some Banana Pudding Cream to his incredible cup of joy and it was beyond delish.  I highly recommend you try it for yourself!

I am obsessed with all the candles in the Summer Collection.  I think they are so beautiful used together or separately ... and the blush pink votives are perfect for all uses.  For this table I paired together navy, blush pink, white, and aquamarine.  I am having the best time mixing color combinations.

These amazing flowers came from a morning trip to Trader Joes and are mixed with beautiful magnolias from Weston Farms.  Steve arranged them in a beautiful bowl.  I was so in love with the stunning Imperial Blue Scalloped Bowl.

We ate, laughed and truly enjoyed the company and the delicious desserts.  I am a huge fan of Jackson Morgan Southern Cream and all their amazing flavors and I know you will be as well.  They are so yummy alone, mixed into coffee or added to all sorts of desserts.

Just a little puff of air to blow out all the candles and our time together was over.  It was truly fabulous, as it always is.

Happy Monday!
