The Chinese New Year is celebrated each year at the turn of the luniosolar calendar. The first day is celebrated on the first new moon between January 21 and February 20. This year it fell on Monday, February 8. Celebrations extend for days and include lion dances, dragon dances, fireworks, family meals and gatherings and spending time with friends and relatives. It sounds perfectly marvelous to me.
In honor of this year's new year, the year of the monkey, I have pulled together a few amazing pictures for you. Of course all of my choices for celebrating include Chinoiserie pieces. We won't act surprised by that little detail one bit.
