Happy Fourth!

Happy birthday America!!  Is there anything better than a holiday to get the excitement going?  And what is it about the three holidays of summer that just up the ante?  I love them all ... Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day!  Can summer please slow down just a smidge??

We are celebrating the day with dinner and dear friends, nothing better in my opinion!  I set the table a few days early since we would be gone both Saturday and Sunday and would be home just in time to start the grill on Monday.  Lawyer loves to grill ... and any excuse he gets you will find him in a cloud of smoke on the deck.

I paired our blue willow dishes with some darling bamboo ones I found last week and some vintage red gingham trays I have had for ever.  I love the new mixed with old.  And the show stopper on that bamboo plate would be these amazing dinner napkins from Lettermade.  I love them!  (ps.  they are on sale for one more day!!)

I married red roses and blue hydrangeas in mint julep cups for each place setting.  I decided to let the meal take center stage on the table and create smaller arrangements for each person.  A mint julep cup just speaks southern for me.

We will be dining on grilled chicken, flank steak and some amazing sides.  I do love a good side dish. I also have a signature drink planned which I can say is quite de-lish.  And of course I have chilled the rosé for a fabulous evening on the porch watching the sun set.
