Christmas Breakfast

Anyone else think breakfast is the best meal of the whole day?  I love breakfast, brunch, and most definitely breakfast for dinner as it is really my favorite meal of the day.  When it comes to Christmas I think breakfast gets even better as it is the start of the most magical days of the year.  We always have sit down breakfasts during the holidays and the table is always fully set for the festivities.  I always set the center of table and then the place mats and place settings can be changed up as I need for each meal.

This year I am using a beautiful centerpiece from Ginny's Orchids surrounded by some of the nutcrackers from our collection.  As I mentioned we collect one per year and this year we purchased our 24th one.  I mixed the live greenery + nutcrackers with a simple place setting that is giving me all the joy.  I stumbled upon a set of six Spode Christmas Tree salad plates that started a collection.   I found four water glasses right after it and then two dinner plates and it felt just meant to be.  My goal is to collect enough to be able to split it into three collections one day for the kids.

I think one of my favorite items on the table this year are my place mats from WH Hostess.  I think they are so fabulous and the colors are rich and amazing and they are paper which means at the end of the meal when one of us gets one dirty I just trade it out at the next meal with another one.  I have two patterns which I will using all during Christmas week.  We have one set of company coming from the 23rd to the 26th and then another set coming the 27th to the 30th.  I have both the plaid pattern above and also this pattern as a fun second pattern.  Yesterday I bought these plates for lunches so I will use the topiary pattern for those meals.  Aren't the paper plates so cute?

The hot cocoa bar has been so useful this year, I love the place it is set up and how it removes the hustle in the am from near the other part of the kitchen.  The Santa nutcracker counting down the days is darling (and a little bit intimidating as well) and was our nutcracker from last year.

I think this table is perfect, a little blue and white + the new Spode pieces + our favorite flatware, I just love it. We have had these Santa mugs for a while and I love that every single year they appear again in the stores just in case one or two of them get broken.  And Mrs. Claus is just too cute!

We serve fruit with mint, fancy scrambled eggs, and almond croissants for Christmas morning.  In the past we have made a breakfast casserole but I have found that after a late night wrapping gifts the heaviness of a breakfast casserole makes everyone super sleepy so now I add in the fruit and just a little eggs to keep them awake.  Oh, and lots of coffee + hot cocoa.

You can find the recipe for this punch here ... it is so good for brunch and can be served with or without spirits. The kids love it as well.  I love the mix of cranberry and oranges juices ... and the frozen cranberries are so easy to keep in the freezer to have when you need them.

Can you believe it is almost Christmas week?  It is crazy ...

Happy Saturday ... 🎄🤶

  1. FYI - you can find the Spode Christmas tree pattern at estate sales all around Metro Atlanta (I see it ALL year long) and I've even spotted it when thrifting at Goodwill. You would furnish 3 full collections in NO time flat. Merry Merry!
