One of the decisions I made this year was to make smart choices when it comes to adding to my wardrobe. Since I am always seeing new things in the world of blogging it is tempting to add so many things to my closet, but that is not smart shopping on my part. I am at the age and time in my life when I do not need a ton of things so the things I purchase need to be thought through on my part and something I will have for a while and wear time and time again. I usually gravitate towards this idea but I can also veer off the path pretty easily so I need to be intentional about my purchases. I have a running list of things I would like to add to my wardrobe and I am always looking to fill these needs but other than that my "wants" need to be carefully thought out.
One of my favorite places to shop for classic clothes I will wear time and time again is Talbots. I used to think it was only for my mother as it is her very favorite store. And then I did more research and realized it was too quickly over looked by me and now it is one of three places to hit when looking for a new piece. The sizes are always the same, they offer both petites and extended sizes and the clothes are meant to last. I can not say that about too many retailers. Plus, they always have what I am looking for. Classic sweater, jeans that fit my body, perfect crisp white shirt, darling holiday loafers, great navy sweater ... these are just a few of the things I have hunted for recently and found every single time. This year when I was hunting for a few transitional pieces for after the holidays but before spring I immediately checked and found such great things and truly darling options. My cart filled up quickly ... and I had to whittle it down to what I really did "need". But, y'all, everything was so cute as you can see in the shopping options below.
My first find of the year happens to be something that has been on my want list for a number of years. I have been hunting for a great raincoat for some time and every single one I find is just not quite right until I found this one a few weeks ago. Not only is it perfect for my needs but also comes in my two favorite colors, pink and navy. So when I tried it on and found it fit perfectly, had a removable hood and folded up very tight I was completely sold on it. So much so that I now own both the pale pink and the navy. It is that good.
So I can boast a solid score for the first hunt of the year. A great classic roll neck navy sweater, a raincoat (actually two), a great striped button down with a great collar, and a perfect pair of pink ballet flats for spring, fall and winter. I am truly really excited and proud of myself for sticking to my guns and getting what I promised myself I would do.
Here's to smart shopping this year ... and an edited and perfected closet in the making!
Happy Wednesday to you all!
