His + Hers Burgers With Laura's Lean

If you know me at all you know that I do not eat red meat.  I have never loved it, even as a child and I have struggled to make burger night special since I always had a aversion to red meat.  Yes, I have had turkey burgers in the past but it is hard to train your children to eat what you make for dinner with no complaints when I am the one complaining about a certain meal.  I know I am making it sound more than it is but I am being really honest. I have always struggled with burger night and since it is such a hit in our house I am thrilled to share I have found an amazing solution to one of the favorite meals in our home.

I was asked by Carusele to participate in the #LaurasLean campaign, sponsored by Laura’s Lean. Although I have been compensated, all opinions, as always, are my own.

I have been buying Laura's Lean beef for a number of years from Kroger.  My husband and the kids love a red meat meal and I was really excited the day I found a healthy way to serve them what they love.  Laura's Lean beef is a “Never Ever” offering, meaning their cattle is raised without ever added hormones or antibiotics and are always vegetarian fed. Furthermore, Laura’s Lean 96% ground beef is certified through the American Heart Association heart check program and meets USDA standards for Extra Lean.  Like I mentioned before I have been buying Laura's Lean for years but it has made our meals so much easier when Nathan needed a protein based diet after his recent surgery.  Since his stomach is smaller than it was and it is now processing his food differently he does better with a lean protein based diet.  We have had to cut a number of things from his diet and our life, but cutting out red meat was not a thing I needed to do since he was already eating a heart healthy beef.

When Laura's Lean emailed me asking me to try their plant based burgers I was really excited.  Since we love the beef patties I knew I would love the plant one as well.  When making burger night the Hubs and I chatted and talked about how he would like his burger knowing I would be able to make the same for me with a plant based burger.  We chose to use the exact same ingredients for both his dinner, and mine, making it a very successful burger night for all.  His burger had a bun, mine did not since I am now gluten free, and I used extra arugula to make mine into a salad when his and the kids were more traditional.

So with the arugula, feta cheese, tomato slices, avocado slices, sweet potatoes, bacon (they all love it so), and a jalapeno aoili we set out to make dinner.

He seasoned the patties with his favorite steak seasoning and we immediately put them on the indoor grill pan.  Since the fat ratio is so low on these patties I was comfortable letting him add my plant based patty to the same pan.  I wasn't worried it would all run together. 😉

I have to admit I love that the patties are already made, it allows me to cook them and not have to to touch anything I don't love.  Just being honest ...

He sliced the sweet potatoes and roasted them in the oven with a maple, chipotle seasoning which we all love.  He usually grills them outside but we did them in the oven and they were just as delicious.  I will add the recipe for them below.  He is a master in the kitchen and for the most part I just let him make the magic happen.

Our middle child is also gluten free and he chose a burger bowl just like mine, and he cut up his burger and made it more of a salad where mine was a true bowl.  I love that they all really enjoyed it so and have asked for the same meal twice since we made this one.  In our house a good meal gets a "gopher" rating ... as in "it was so good I would go for more".

I love doing life with this man. I love that he loves to cook and equally loves to eat. I highly recommend Laura's Lean beef and the plant based burger. They are not only good as a burger patty but I have since broken them up and they add a great protein option for any salad.

Our meal was not only delicious and healthy for both of us, but we may have ended the burger struggle in our home for good. Thank you #LaurasLean for creating healthy beef + a delicious plant based burger ... you definitely made this dinner a huge success!

Happy Monday to you all!  💗
