Our Porch, My Sanctuary

Our porch has always been a haven for me, and in the last five weeks it has become a true sanctuary.  I start my days here, retreat during the day when I need some space, and usually end my day here watching the sunset.  During the super sunny days I have worked on planting flowers in pots and tending to my ferns and herbs and connecting with my non gardening skills for the first time ever.  There is something about this porch that just makes my blood pressure lower and helps me to truly relax no matter what is going on.  Right now I am fully leaning in to all the relaxing I can get, especially since my anxiety has been all over the place recently.

The porch was here when we bought the house and I have worked on it now twice to give it some love.  Since the space is screened in you need to care more for the furniture and covers, etc. and after more than ten years our furniture needed some love.  A few weeks ago I decided to move the antique piece we had here to the garage to be used inside (needs to be recovered and repainted) and checked out my go to for some new pieces. When it comes to outdoor furniture I think Frontgate is hands down the best option.

April is usually the time I do a deep clean on the porch after winter and pollen season and this year when I did it is when I realized it was time to make some new decisions.  We kept the antique chinoiserie piece + the side tables + the coffee table + the rug.  The remaining pieces either were donated or saved for another use.  Since we kept the chinoiserie piece I was able to keep the mirror and plate wall, which I love.  The lamps also worked perfectly and have outdoor shades so will a little cleaning they were good to go.

One of the things we discuss a lot is needing more seating and since the space wasn't getting any bigger I tried to be smarter with my seating options. Instead of one sofa and four chairs this time I chose to use two love seats, two chairs and have two garden stools for extra seats if I need them.  This will allow us 8 seats vs the 6 we had before.  Its not a lot but it does seem like its a better option.

We chose to get this love seat + this love seat three piece set ... and chose the Quick Ship option and the sailcloth in cobalt with natural piping.  The color is a true french blue with a fabulous ivory piping, the same color as the wicker.  I could not love it more.  I plan to add more pillows, but for now we are loving the lighter brighter furniture and beautiful cushions.

We have the matching side tables in a darker color and I like the contrast and mix of colors.  It helps mix in the vintage coffee table (from PKL The Cellar) + the other wicker pieces I use to entertain.  I mixed in lots of white and blue + white pieces to pull it all together.  Ferns are my favorite thing to use on the porch and I found the prettiest ones at the market when grabbing essentials.  I love how I can get the food we need + some herbs and ferns as an add on, it just makes me happy to have something green around.

We use our porch to start the day with coffee and we love to entertain on it.  For now the kids and I are playing extra card games (DOS for the win!) and are having the best time watching the sunset and having snacks. It makes the end of the day so much fun to meet up for some cards and quality time.

Today is the start of an amazing Frontgate sale where you can save 25% sitewide + free shipping which also includes truck delivery.  When you shop the sale you will need the code FGLTK25 which gives you free furniture shipping. All of my pieces came via truck and this normally comes with an add on fee, but for the sale it is waived.  Since we are all spending way more time at home this is the perfect time to update your outdoor spaces ... being outside helps so much with my mood.  To take advantage of the sale I have picked out a fire pit, a new dining table and a new umbrella for our deck ... stay tuned for another update very soon.

To make the sale even better I have partnered with my sweet friend Ashley Brooke + Frontgate to give one of you $500 to freshen up an outdoor space of your own.  Maybe you need some porch furniture or some lounge chairs for your yard ... your choice how you spend your $500.

Speaking of lounge chairs ... Ashley just added a bistro table and chairs to her backyard along with two lounge chairs + an amazing umbrella which I am dying over.  So pretty and so perfect for reading, coffee, needlepoint, and watching a fabulous Florida sunset.  I so wish I could share one of those lounge chairs with her for some good girl time.  I adore Ashley, she is truly such a kind and precious friend.  You can read the changes to her backyard, including a deck her husband built (say what??), in this blog post. 💗

Enter here for the giveaway and shop my favorites from the sale below ... there are such amazing things for outdoor!  I love it all!
