It's A Colorful Life Tour Of Our Den

Hello
... and welcome to our den.  I absolutely love Christmas, as you know, and so decorating our home is so very fun for me.  I find decorating our home to prepare for the bliss of December to be something I have worked on for years.  I know which areas I find that shine and those are my favorites to add touches of pink, green, glitter, velvet, and vintage pieces that I have collected for years. The den is most definitely the heart of our home, and so it is my favorite all gussied up for the best month of the year, December.

I am joining a ton of talented bloggers today to join Jennifer, of Dimples and Tangles, It's A Colorful Life Tour.  Jennifer is a blogger I know well and her home is always styled to the T with amazing color, pattern, and precious details.  Anyone she invites to join the tour I know will be incredible, so I am always super thankful she asks me to join the crowd.  This is my second tour for December, and definitely my second favorite of the year. I hope you grab a hotty toddy and stick around for each detail.  Since the tour is a hop ... you will have come to me from Rhoda of Southern Hospitality.  Rhoda is a fellow Atlantian and I always enjoy bumping into her.  Her home is darling and she is truly so very kind.

I hope you enjoy each and every photo and detail, I must say I am quite smitten. Have I mentioned it is my favorite time of the year? 🌟

Our den is definitely the center of our home, maybe equally so with the kitchen.  We spend the most time as a family in these two rooms and during December we are here the most.  We watch movies, we sit with a fire, we drink cocoa, we snuggle, and most of all, we soak up the magic of the season. For that reason this is the space I take the most time to decorate, as it is the one I see the most this time of the year.  Also, this is the spot for our main tree, and with all those twinkle lights I pair all my favorite things.

Our tree is a 9 foot flocked Frontgate tree and we love it!! It is wired so that when you add each tier the wires line up and the tree lights work from the top of the tree to the base.  I think it is magical, both in the way it looks, the way it goes together, and the lack of wires I need to plug in.  I simply put the tree pieces together and plug it in.  Does it get any easier?

This year I decorated the tree in pinks, blues, greens, gold, and added a large hot pink bow to the top and small light pink velvet bows throughout.  I finished the bottom of the tree with a piece of pink bow fabric I found at an estate sale.  I have big plans for that fabric, but for now it is perfect as a tree skirt.

I am slowly collecting vintage needlepoint pillows and I love them so much.  How cute are these two?

With that color selection I pulled all of my vintage ornaments in the same colors and then added pink + red roses, lots of bows, Christmas books to the tops of my coffee table stacks.  I started adding seasonal books to my collection for styling this year. I have already pulled together a collection of them for Halloween, fall, and now Christmas.  You can find books at estate sales, Good Will, or your local half price book store.  I mix coffee table books with novels and even cook books, the mix is the most fun for me.  I also like to choose books based on colors to mix together, and pink, green, and red is perfect for Christmas. And for a classic option, Martha Stewart makes amazing books to buy, style, and gift. The coffee table is adorned with some darling books, both chosen for reading ... and for their charm!

More fun vintage Christmas needlepoint ... the Santa above and the tiny pillow below I found during a quick stop to an estate sale in Dallas.  Isn't the mouse so cute?

Thank you so very much for reading ... and I am thrilled to have you pop in today.  I hope if you are new to the blog you come back and add me to your reading list.  I love our home, I love working and styling it, and I love to teach things I have learned, so hopefully you will find it a place for you as well.

From me you will go to my friend Diana, who is truly the cutest thing in the world.  Her blog, Diana Rose Spier, is filled with great finds, amazing color, and the best little snippets of her incredible style.

Thank you for inviting me again this year Jennifer, I just love this tour so very much. Make sure you check out the rest of the tour ... it will be fabulous I can promise you! 💗

  4. Paige,I love your blog and look forward to see your very special and unique decor so much that I wish I lived alone sometimes so that I could be free to incorporate all the colors that you so cleverly put together.Hubby will have none of it and since this is also his home I must simply dream and oogle your home. I do have one pet peeve and that is that you and several others don't show the full room. It's so disappointing to go through the pictures always hoping that the next one will show the whole completed room. Snippets are nice but it's like seeing just the sleeve or collar of a dress and having to imagine what the actual dress looks like so maybe next time step back and give us an eyeful of how it all fits in. Thanks and blessings to you and yours and a very Merry Christmas!
