Setting the deck for summer ...

I know it is hard to believe, but it will be summer here in Atlanta in just two weeks.  Seriously, where oh where did the time go??  My littles have exactly a week left of school.  Insert emoji scared face here!  How is it that will be another year older.  #wowza

The one thing I love about summer the most is the time we spend together as a family.  Lazy mornings, endless hours at the pool and of course dinners on the deck.  To prepare the deck and myself for the speeding train that is summer it was time to fluff the deck for summer dinners. Who doesn't love a perfect evening eating al fresco.  Personally, it is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

We have a picnic table on the deck that my father in law made a number of years ago.  It is the perfect size for our family of six.  Two end chairs I found at a flea market a couple of years ago and four chairs from an old metal set I painted blue and that was the state of the space when I headed to refresh it for the season.  I headed to At Home to shop for supplies to add to our existing blue and white with a touch of green decor.

The first thing I found was the incredible rug.  Large and blue and white?  Umm ... #yesplease!  I also grabbed two blue and white lumbar pillows for the end chairs at the table.  Using the green tablecloth I bought at At Home for Easter I had a great place to start.  The pillows and rug were literally perfect for our blue and white decor!

The blue and white garden stool is from Parker Kennedy Living but the adorable lantern is another score I found at At Home.  I also grabbed two blue and white stripe roll pillows which matched our cushions perfectly.  And they are incredibly comfortable.  The green pillows were custom made for our Porch One Room Challenge and they are still fabulous two years later.

I have what my husband calls a black thumb.  I would just say I don't love to garden, but tomato, toe-mato.  I found this amazing faux boxwood topiary and fell in love.  And the Chippendale planter was a complete no brainer.  This way when the heat hits and I forget all about watering my herbs I will still have a fantastic boxwood topiary at the door.  Don't you agree?

We have the most amazing jasmine growing on the rails of the porch and it looks the best after the rains when it gets a good soaking.  The green vines create a perfect backdrop for this area.  I didn't plant it and I do nothing to it, which is probably why it grows so well.

An outdoor bar cart?  But, of course!  This one I have had for a few years and it is still perfect!!

I am a sucker for a monogram as you know and the monogrammed cheese board was perfect for us!

I love a Chinoiserie stand and they have a great selection.  I bought six of them and painted each of them green.  Three are in the Den Reveal, two are here and one is in the dining room under an orchid. I may be obsessed with green at the moment. The amazing yellow pitcher is from Parker Kennedy Living.

I walked past the elephants when I first arrived at the store and had to double back and grab them!  I mean not only are they darling but they fit my decor perfectly.  They will sit on the table with the pot of herbs when the table isn't set for dinner.

I loved the whimsical bee glasses and grabbed two sets of 4.  Under $10 and perfect for the bees that will soon come to visit all the blooming jasmine.  The porch is set and ready for a full summer of al fresco dinners for us and all of our friends.  The best part about school getting out next week.  I already have a menu ready to go for our first lazy evening!

Anyone want to pop over for dinner and drinks?

  1. Love the space! I'm going to have to schedule a trip to AT Home. I was there a month or two ago and saw the plant stands and didn't consider painting them. Kicking self!
