Six Things I Bought + Loved Vol. 16

Happy Wednesday ... these short weeks are the best, don't you think?  I have the best roundup for you today as I have seen (and bought) many things lately that I think you will love.  It was a crazy weekend of good sales, and I had to make sure I was purchasing good stuff for myself and not just diving into the sale mentality.  With summer in full force for us, everyone needed some summer clothes, and then I added in an item, or two, for myself.  It happens.

First up is the dress in the photo above that I wore over the weekend and so many bought.  It is a great dress, a perfect price, and so pretty.  I have worn it several times since I bought it, and every time I make someone comment that they love it.  It is a great price, $29.99, and looks much more expensive.  I love the linen feel of it without all the wrinkles.  I paired it with these wedges, which are also a great deal and look way more expensive than they are. Add these earrings, which are so stunning in person, and you have an outfit for day into night!

Susan Shaw is a new to me brand but apparently is not to most.  I bought a pair of earrings from her and a necklace, and now I just love to see what she creates.  Every month she releases an earring of the month at half price, and I love to see what they are.  This month it's this earring, which I love and is so very classic.  Do you own Susan Shaw pieces?  If so, share your favorites with me.  I am partial to these darling oyster earrings + this necklace which I bought during one of her sales.

Evelyn Henson just released wallpaper!!  I am so excited for this fantastic girl, and watching her career unfold and grow over the years has been unbelievable.  I am super happy to check them out and maybe, find something we can add to our home.  I have never used a peel-and-stick wallpaper, but I am definitely up for trying one. Maybe for the potty area in our primary bathroom? It is currently a brown and white stripe, but how adorable would it be in a small green and white pattern??  I need to order samples and see what works.  This would be such a fun summer project for me. My husband doesn't play golf anymore, but how adorable would this be in a 1/2 bathroom??  Or a mudroom.  Oh yes, perfection. Also, the hand painting I did for our guest bathroom is not working for me anymore, so I may be wallpapering all sorts of rooms this summer.  Stay tuned.

This book.  I spotted it on the Greenbriar Instagram and immediately bought it. I think it will be a fabulous summer edition to my reading stack. Carlton Varney gave it five stars, so I think that is all the recommendations I need.  Here is the preview I saw ...

In 1908, young Dorothy Tuckerman chafes under the bland, beige traditions of her socialite circles. Only the aristocracy’s annual summer trips to The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia spark her imagination. In this naturally beautiful place, an unexpected romance with an Italian racecar driver gives Dorothy a taste of the passion and adventure she wants. But her family intervenes, sentencing Dorothy to the life she hopes to escape.

Thirty-eight years later, as World War II draws to a close, Dorothy has done everything a woman in the early twentieth century should not: she has divorced her husband—scandalous—and established America’s first interior design firm—shocking. Now, Dorothy returns to The Greenbrier with the assignment to restore it to something even greater than its original glory. With her beloved company’s future hanging in the balance and brimming with daring, unconventional ideas, Dorothy has one more chance to give her dreams wings or succumb to her what society tells her is her inescapable fate.

Based on the true story of famed designer Dorothy Draper, The Grand Design is a moving tale of one woman’s quest to transform the walls that hold her captive.

This is one of my favorite estate sale needlepoint finds.  When I share everyone asks where it is from, and finally, I found one I can share.  It is not in the same colors but honestly, I may love it more.

These shoes. They are gingham, the perfect height, and what can I say.  A must-have.

I hope your day is just magical, it has been a really hard couple of weeks and we all need a relaxing and peaceful day.

  1. Many years ago I gave my daughter a needle point pillow about the size of the one you are sharing. It must be around 15 years old and she still has it. It states - Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my Mother after all. Wish I could locate a few more of them.
