Candlefish For Two

My outfit ... Top || Jeans || Sandals

As I mentioned before Lawyer and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary on August 26.  To celebrate I organized a day for the two of us from the moment we woke up to a wonderful dinner for two at one of our favorite dinner locations.  I truly believe that dating your husband and enjoying adventures together is the key to truly enjoying your marriage.  It is so easy to get bogged down in the day to day schedules and kids needs as they get older and forget all about each other.  I have committed myself (and him) to more adventures and weekly date nights and we have enjoyed each one.  I truly love and adore my husband and its so much fun to carve out time for just the two of us.

Love that Lawyer!!

(Iced Vanilla Cinnamon Nonfat Latte from Revelator Coffee)

After coffee for two and an early wake up call we were off for the day.  Lawyer wasn't really excited about having to leave the house on a Saturday by 8:30 am, but he grumbled his way through it and I rewarded him with more coffee and a yummy breakfast.  He rallied pretty quickly!

Our first stop for the day was at Ponce City Market for a candle making class for two at Candlefish. I have shared before how much I enjoyed my first candle making class and I knew he would truly enjoy it as much as I did.  Lawyer is up for almost anything that doesn't include zip lining or horseback riding but he also has a large creative side so I was positive he would thoroughly enjoy making candles.

And he loved it!

I learned a few things about my husband during our two hour class.  He doesn't like the smell of citrus and he gravitates toward layered scents.  He is also ridiculously precise when he measures things, which is probably why he loves to cook.  The most interesting thing about our time there was how we were both drawn to basically the same scents with the exception of the heavily citrus candles. Of course I loved them and he said it smelled like the cleaning products I use at the house.  I found it so interesting that I am so drawn to citrus and florals and he was more drawn to relaxing layered scents.

He chose to make candle no. 82 (lavender and thyme) and I made candle no. 8 (gardenia and musk). I love both scents and we have mine burning downstairs and his burning in our bedroom. They are both truly so yummy!

We had so much fun creating something together and spending our morning learning to do something together while learning more about each other.  I tend to smell a scent twice to decide if I like it or not and he is a quick yes/no kind of guy.  He would pick it up, decide quickly and scratch a number off faster than lightening if he didn't love it.  It was quite funny. Very decisive, which is truly who he is at the core.

I highly recommend taking a class with your friends or your mate.  It is so much fun and if you go in the evening make sure you bring a bottle of wine to share.  When you are done you can continue your fun evening eating in the Food Hall or heading upstairs to The Roof for drinks and an amazing view.

Thank you Candlefish for treating us like newlyweds while we were there.  We truly had so much fun and will be back as soon as we are ready for more candles!

Happy Thursday!

  3. I love this. Hubby is a candle snob, so this would be right up his alley. This would make the perfect Christmas gift for him.
