She Took A Chance And Nailed It

I was so thrilled to open up the November issue of Veranda magazine and spy my friend Danielle Rollins and a gorgeous feature on her newly completed home.  Although I pass the home quite often our schedules have never worked out to pop in for a drink and a tour of the home.  I have watched the renovation from the time she purchased the home and I can tell you the before and after are drastically different.  Having the beautiful issue and seeing the home was more than a treat.  I am honored to be able to share these images with you today along with an interview with Danielle on renovating her home, the journey and this amazing new chapter in her life.

Eddie Ross And The House of His Dreams

When Eddie Ross and his partner Jaithan Kochar bought their new home it was truly a stroke of luck locating the house that they will call their dream home.  After moving out of Pine Hill Farm a few years ago they boxed up their "pretties" in three pods and set their sights on finding a new home.  At a photo shoot for Better Homes and Gardens they stumbled onto an area on the Main Line of Pennsylvania, an area that Eddie says was completely new to him.  After searching with Jaithan and an agent for a while Eddie told me he just simply stated "I just want an old Colonial in a neighborhood where we can walk to town".  A few months later their agent found exactly what they wanted and the rest is history.

Debuting Prints Charming

When I think of Madcap Cottage my head and heart are filled with thoughts of color, pattern, whimsy and fun.  Add in two fun loving incredibly talented designers, Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke, and you have pure design magic. I can not think of one single Madcap room that I have ever seen that doesn't make me smile.  Perfect layers with lots of color and pattern and you end up with happy rooms and, of course, happy clients.

Steve McKenzie Takes Macon

It is no secret that I adore all things Steve McKenzie.  How could you not?  Steve is a multi talented shop owner, interior designer and artist.  Every single thing he touches is made better ten fold.  To know Steve is to respect and adore him and anyone who knows him would wholeheartedly agree. I was thrilled to hear he was recently invited to participate in this year's Design, Wine & Dine Showhouse in Macon, Georgia.  I knew I would be inspired by his space but I truly did not realize how much I would LOVE it. 

Introducing Steve McKenzie ...

I had the amazing pleasure of meeting Steve and his lovely wife Jill a few years ago at an industry event.  I don't recall which event it was, I just remember thinking how kind they both were and how much they seemed to adore working together.

Jill and Steve McKenzie own Steve McKenzies in West Midtown Atlanta. If you visit the store you will feel an incredible old world collected feel about it with the perfect blend of the lines they carry mixed in with Steve’s art and textiles. You can pick up amazing blue and white porcelain, fabulous fabrics and wallpapers from fellow industry artists, incredible china, design books and amazing gifts, and of course, all of Steve’s creations.  While you are there make sure you meet their adorable rescue pup Duke.

Over the past few years I would run into them at markets and events but we never had a true chance to sit and chat, it was simply one mingle event after another. I always left feeling the same way, such kind and talented people and a duo I needed to know more about.

Fast forward to this February at The Southern C Summit where I found myself seated next to Steve at dinner. I had the absolute honor to chat with Steve for more than an hour where we conversed about our businesses, our lives and the journey along the way. I was immediately smitten with his southern charm and his incredible passion for art. I knew I wanted to know more about Steve “the artist” and “the McKenzies” as shop owners and business partners and how it all fit together.
