Vouge Life In Looks

I stumbled upon a great series recently that I think you will love as much as I do.  Vogue has a Life In Looks series on YouTube and they have included a number of celebrities I have enjoyed watching.  The premise is to present each of them with a book of their looks and have them comment on each.  The first one I watched, and my favorite, was Gwyneth Paltrow.  To me Gwyneth is the ultimate cool girl.  She always looks so effortless, has beauty that truly comes from within and, her looks are always so ... just cool.  I have loved her red carpet looks and this was so fun to hear her thoughts on each, who they were, and why she chose them.

Sterling Silver ... Part Deux

Happy Thursday ... for each of you that are lovers of sterling silver, as I am, you are in for another treat and post from Nicole Letts. She did such an amazing job with the first post, which I knew she would, and this piece is just as amazing. The first post talked about why sterling silver is so collectible and desirable for every day use.  And yes, can you believe it goes in the dishwasher?  This post is a great resource for identifying all the amazing pieces in a collection.

Life Update 4.26.2021

Happy Monday!
I am still a little sleepy from last week's shopping trip, but all in the best way possible.  We worked hard, we met up with my friends, we ate and sipped, and we soaked up the gorgeous Florida sun and air.  I was truly in heaven.  I had been craving some serious Florida time and was shocked to realize it had been over two years since I was "home".  I say home in quotes because other than our home in Georgia it is the place that feels the most like home to me.  Most of my family is still in Florida and between Orlando and Lakeland, it's home

My Paige Gemmel Art

When I was sitting in my den this weekend I looked up and saw this Paige Gemmel art that we love so very much.  I was thinking about when she painted it for us and how excited I was when it arrived.  Paige and I had been chatting for weeks about the details and when it arrived I was truly blown away at how she had taken every single conversation we had and nailed the details.  This is a custom piece, as you many know, but what you may not know it was the elements mean to us.  Paige was amazing to work with and let me customize any and every single thing I wanted to which created a piece that was really so very me.

I had been a huge fan of Paige's work and then met her in a chance meeting while attending a book signing in West Palm Beach.  She was there dropping off some work to the shop and had also come to the book signing with her mother.  At the time she was living in Del Ray, which was not far from West Palm. We chatted and I asked about buying one of her pieces and then the conversation turned to the den I was working on and the rest, as they say, is history

So, the painting ... let me break it down for you.

The monkeys ... they are meant to be my husband and myself and as you can see they are working together, much like we often do as husband and wife.

The orange tree ... my grandfather owned a harvesting and hauling company and they harvested citrus, mostly oranges and grapefruits and sold it to the juicing plants in Central Florida.  When I was a child we looked at a lot of groves!!!

The orange tree also represents Florida as both my husband and I were raised in the state, he is born and bred from Jupiter and myself from Lakeland.

The blue and white pot ... just a nod to tradition and classic taste.  When I was growing up my grandmother had a collection of Delft that I saw a lot and Nathan's grandparents used their Blue Willow dishes every single day.  For us it is just the things we saw then and still use and collect now.

The pale pink background ... it is my favorite shade of pink.

The combination of pale pink and pale blue ... this was not intentional but as I look at it now it was the two colors of the sofa Nathan had when we met.  It was a huge sectional, as everyone had, and the background was pale blue and the flowers were pale pink.

Influenced by Grace

Happy Monday ... I unintentionally took a few days off, my work load was so big for the shop I needed to focus and I have been writing the day of recently ... and wow, I just slipped.  It happens, but yes, totally did not plan that one.  😁  I have such good news to share and I am so happy to be able to share as I have been planning this, with two friends, for weeks.  Yesterday we, Christina, Lee + I, launched a brand new Instagram account, all about God and inspiration and I could not be more thrilled.

Six Things I Bought + Loved ... Vol. 8

While pulling this post together I realized there were a number of things I bought recently and really, really love, so there will be more than six items plus a few things that are on my radar.  Spring is in full swing and there are some darling dresses on the market + sandals + a few things I have seen and am completely smitten with.  So, all of that to say, this post will be longer than usual because I have so much to share. 💙

Sephora Sale Time

It's that glorious time of the year where all the Sephora goodies are on sale.  I will admit I stretch products around this time knowing I can restock while they are sale prices ... so let the restock begin.  I don't buy a ton of things at Sephora, but what I do buy I am committed to repurchasing.  I am a loyal girl and don't change up my routine much, but here and there I will come across something that I see another friend using and want to try.  The best part about Sephora is that they have an amazing return policy so you can try different things and what doesn't work you can return. That makes trying something new easy peasy.

Bring It On ...

It is a Monday after a great week of vacation and normally I would be super down and sad that the week is over.  Don't get me wrong, I am sad the week is over, but the gratitude is larger than the regret and I am thrilled.  I am so thankful that we had the ability to get away, I had an amazing four solid days at the beach, and that the world is beginning to come back to a normal space after a year of fear + isolation.  Just being able to sit on the patio in St. Simons (where it was chilly) and see so many people walking and hanging out with their families and their pets brought so much joy!  It was a great week, and I am ready to use that time of refueling for good.

Meet Me At The 19th Hole ...

I am beyond excited for this spring.  We are getting vaccines, the world is starting to celebrate again, and The Masters is on.  As soon as the azaleas begin to bloom I begin to dream of Masters weekend where we watch golf on repeat and our lunches consist of pimento cheese sandwiches with endless Arnold Palmers.  Last year my friend Mary and I planned some darling content to share during this week, but of course, it did not happen.  I have been so excited to share this with you, and hopefully just in time for you to gather some fun items for Sunday's round.

Trim Upgrade

One of the easiest tricks I have in my arsenal is also one of the best, in my humble opinion.  A few years ago when I was working on my master bathroom I decided that the bamboo blinds that were hanging behind our tub looked boring.  I thought about adding a valance, small drapery, and then settled on gussying up the blinds themselves.  In a matter of minutes I had gathered some trim tape, some glue, and come up with a plan. Also, in my opinion, the blinds look way better than they did before the trim update and the whole process could not have been easier or more fun to do.  In just minutes the blinds went from simple to fantastic ... and I did not need to add anything else to the window to give it some depth.

Sterling Silver, What's Not to Love?

I am really so very excited for this post today.  As you know I have a friend here in Atlanta that I estate sale with and run my shop alongside.  It has been a blessing to have another shop owner to chat with, shop with, and learn new things from the last six months. Nicole Letts is wicked smart, she is witty, and she has become a dear and treasured friend.  Her passion for things is similar to mine, but she has knowledge in areas I do not and this makes us truly helpful for one another.  One of her areas of expertise is sterling silver as she is an avid collector and hunter for the finest pieces.  I have learned so much from her about our own collection and how to spot and hunt for the best pieces.  I asked her to write three articles for you on sterling ... and today is the first of three.  You will truly love this piece.

With that ... here is Nicole -
