A Pink Clutch SoireƩ

I had the most wonderful weekend!  My first trip to Columbia, South Carolina left me with fabulous new friends and a heart full of new memories and treasured moments.  I truly can not even process all the amazing things I saw, ate and experienced in my two days in this charming city.  I can't wait to return!

Saturday Scores ... Vol. 11

Happy Saturday lovies! Today I have linked some of my favorites from this year's Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The sale ends August 6th so make sure to start your shopping quick, as in now!

The Anniversary sale is the best time to stock up for fall.  I didn't get a lot of pieces, but I did grab the top below, stocked up on some amazing candles and got a few things for my house.

Introducing Shello Dahling

You may recall this image which I posted when I attended an event in Savannah in early June.  I got a lot of questions and comments about my outfit.  So many people asked about my jumpsuit and my necklace.  Sadly the jumpsuit is sold out, but the necklace is not only not sold out but its one of many made by darling friend Emily.

San Pellegrino Mix Art

As many of you I have an assistant all summer.  I count down the days until she arrives and I mourn when the summer ends and she goes back to her regular life.  There are few people like the darling Anna Grace.  I take her places and people ask her where she goes to school, as in college.  The truth is she is still in high school and is truly like no other.  She is bright, quick and knows me inside and out.  I am blessed she chooses to spend her summer with me, as she always shows up with a smile and leaves with a hug and a "love you".

All summer she has been working her tail off.  This year she took on posts and she has been the writer of the Saturday Scores since its inception. She is good and I love her to pieces!!  Today is her last day as school starts Monday.  I can't imagine how sad I will be next week.

To celebrate her growth this summer I treated her to this post.  She could chose the content and write it from her voice.  She nailed it, but I knew she would.

I give you AGB!!  ...

I found this article in domino magazine and was immediately hooked ... is this picture not fabulous! I don't drink but I have always found cocktails to be a beautiful craft so these mocktails from Sanpellegrino's Mix Art collection have been my new obsession. Down below I have my favorite mocktails from the collection including some with my favorite flavor the Arianciata Rossa. They are all perfect for summer get togethers with my girlfriends ... so much better than just a coke.

1 oz Grapefruit juice
2 oz Aranciata Rossa Sanpellegrino

Pink Hotels? Sign me up!

When visiting Palm Beach last month I had the pleasure of touring The Colony.  I loved it so very much with every little detail so very Dorothy Draper.  Carlton Varney poured his talent into the remodel and I could not love it more.  Of course, one of the reasons I adored it was because it was pink.  I mean, a pink hotel?

Steve McKenzie Takes Macon

It is no secret that I adore all things Steve McKenzie.  How could you not?  Steve is a multi talented shop owner, interior designer and artist.  Every single thing he touches is made better ten fold.  To know Steve is to respect and adore him and anyone who knows him would wholeheartedly agree. I was thrilled to hear he was recently invited to participate in this year's Design, Wine & Dine Showhouse in Macon, Georgia.  I knew I would be inspired by his space but I truly did not realize how much I would LOVE it.

Saturday Scores ... Vol. 10

Have you seen Wednesday's post? One of the new color combos for 2017 is Lavender and Navy and I must admit I am obsessed!! You may be shocked that I am a fan of lavender ... it's a shade of purple which has never been my favorite color. But something about it paired with navy has really got me hooked.

My assistant was flipping through a West Elm catalog and immediately texted me ... they clearly got the memo about this new color combo trend. So today I am sharing West Elm's take on the new color combo ... and it's fabulous!!

Color Trend ... Lavender + Navy

For a girl who does not care for purple I do have a small spot in my heart for lavender.  Something about the pale shade makes me feel feminine and girly.  Pair it with navy and I am all in to swipe right.  This color trend is showing up everywhere right now and I could not be happier.  As you will see these two colors might be a perfect match.

Lavender + Navy forever.

Introducing August Morgan

We all know August Morgan for their darling cheeky cocktail napkins that instantly add humor to any cocktail hour. They are fun to give as hostess gifts and even more fun to receive. What's better than a fun napkin to start a conversation among new friends at a cocktail party? I mean, does it get any better?

Well apparently it does ...

Saturday Scores Vol. 9

Al fresco dining is one of those simple joys in my life ... I mean it's a summer thing so of course it makes me all kinds of happy! Al Fresco dining in the Atlanta heat also takes some strategy. Today I have pulled together some of my favorite outdoor dining pieces from Mark and Graham ... the ultimate monogramming place to be (p.s. some of these pieces come with free monograms!!).
These items are not only beautiful and classic, but can be used both indoor and outdoor. As a huge bonus they are not breakable so that way the littles can help carry trays and plates outdoors without any accidents! Annnd my dreams come true.

Have you heard of Willow Park Boutique yet? Head on over like right now ... they're clothes are to die for! I found this super pretty top and loved this one, this one, this one, and this dress too.

Cooking with Mary Kay Andrews

One of my absolute favorite southern authors, Mary Kay Andrews, treated me to a copy of her new book The Beach House Cookbook.  I was thrilled when it arrived in the mail just in time for the weekend.  I have been a long time reader of MKA and this book is a fun twist on her usual perfect for the summer beach reads.

The cookbook totes itself as "easy breezy recipes with a southern accent" which is just my kind of meal prep.  It is no secret that Lawyer does most of the cooking at the house and loves to use it as his down time.  I enjoy cooking but not as much as he does, so usually he is in charge of meal prep and I set a pretty table and manage clean up.  Oh, and I pick the recipes which is always the fun part!

Low Country Boil

Marinated Cucumbers and Onions

Black Bean and Corn Salsa

Doesn't everything look just amazing?

Along with fabulous recipes and incredible photos the book is filled with stories of her life at the beach and wonderful snippets of how each recipe came to be.  I love reading that she calls her son Boomerang Boy because he kept moving home and that she loves to cook with her darling grandchildren.  It is what I love most about this amazing woman who is also a friend of mine.  Many months I run into her shopping at Scotts and we have a moment to catch up.  She is kind and funny and always remains true to her southern roots.  What isn't to love about her?

Lawyer and I are hosting a best friend for the weekend so I quickly whipped up two of her recipes to welcome him around six this evening.  My favorite part of entertaining is getting ready for the arrival. Somehow running to the market for a few things is so much better than a two page list of household needs.

I chose the Redneck Caviar and the Tybee Tea Cocktail.  I love a good chip and dip and this one exceeded all of my expectations.  Tons of flavor and the pickled okra, a favorite of mine, is such a fun addition. I left the bourbon of the the Tybee Tea so that all could enjoy since the kids love to join us on our porch evenings!

I have already filled my copy of the cookbook with yellow sticky notes for all of the recipes I am dying to try.  She has separated the recipes for all occasions you can celebrate at the beach and I love thinking of Thanksgiving and Easter with the ocean breeze just outside the window.  Being beach lovers I can think of nothing more exciting than taking some time to live at the beach for a year and just make recipes from this book over and over again.

Perfect idea, yes?

My darling assistant and I had to sit down on the porch and try some of the dip I just made and I can tell you it was a huge hit, thank goodness I doubled the recipe! Oh, and I added just a smidge of bourbon to my Tybee Tea ... it is Friday and I have no plans to leave the house.

You will absolutely love The Beach House Cookbook.  It is the perfect addition to your hostess gift for traveling and would make the perfect birthday gift for your best friend.  I highly recommend!

Not only did she send a copy for me but she sent a second for me to giveaway to one lucky reader.  I can't wait to box this up and share the fabulous with one of you.  Enter quickly, the giveaway ends Monday at midnight!

Have the best Friday ... and cheers from the girls at TPC!!

Random Thoughts ... #07052017

Happy Wednesday!!  This will be the shortest week ever which officially makes it my favorite week of the year.  I love a short week when the weekend is already peeking around the corner.  Does it get any better than that?
