Summer Tour Round Up

I shared last week that I was among an incredible group of women who had joined together to share their homes with you as part of  It's A Colorful Life Home TourSummer Snapshots.  I am always so honored to be included and this year the tour was so good, maybe the best one yet, and the round up most definitely deserves a whole post of its own. I think for me having missed out on so many things I loved seeing peeks of so many homes and feel so blessed they have shared their homes and talents with us.

Lake Pajamas Sale

This is always one of my favorite sales to share the details on, as Lake Pajamas are literally the softest things I own, and they are the best price they will be all year.  This is the time to buy them, to stock up, and to grab some extras for gifts.  You will be so happy and thankful you did, I promise you!

Dining Room Dreaming

I love our home, I really, really do.  I love walking through it in the morning when the sun pours in and seeing all of the things we have collected, inherited, and bits and pieces of the family we have created.  One of my favorite places to stand is in the foyer where I can see the dining room, my office, the den and the stairs going up all at the exact same time.  Being home makes me so happy and having a house full of my people is just the icing on the cake.

Snapshots of Summer Tour

Good morning!  I have a treat for you today ... these are always my favorite posts ... I am joining in with other amazing blogger friends for a sneak peek into our homes this summer.  It's A Colorful Life Summer Tour is filled with stunning homes from talented blogger friends and you do not want to miss a single one of them.  I have listed the lineup at the end of the post, make sure you get a coffee or glass of wine and read them all. 💥

When I first said YES to the tour I was a little worried that I would not have images to share with you of the inside of our house, since nothing has really changed.  But ... the more I thought about it and the more I looked around the more I realized that we have made some changes (small ones) to accommodate the very different summer we are all experiencing.  And then I as I was adding in the images I planned to share I realized that we have made huge changes to the yard and the porch ... so I will break this down into two posts, the inside and the outside and catch you up in both areas.

The Perfect Nightgown

Stop the presses ... I have found and purchased the best nightgown I have ever worn.  I spotted it on another bloggers Instagram and loved the look but, was of course, side eyeing the details thinking they may be more than I was wanting.  Well, I was completely wrong.  I loved the length and the ruffles edges and was very interested in the smocking so I went for it knowing I could return it if I didn't love it.  I now feel silly for thinking I would ever return it, I am in love!

All The Peaches

Peach season is one of my favorite parts of the summer ... though I will admit all the fruit available in the summer is just amazing.  Living in Georgia our menus include all the peaches from May to the end of July.  Peach pies, cobbler, salads, sauce for meat, salsas, and of course ... peach ice cream.  I honestly can not think of one person I know that doesn't love a ripe and sweet peach, they are just so very good.

Six Things I Got + Loved Vol. 3

Happy Monday ... how are you? I am still on a high from the beach and the relaxation and so inspired in so many ways.  In other ways I am sad to be home and faced with school thoughts and news and life.  Life is hard ... taking it day by day and truly leaning into the relaxation I have from vacation and not letting anything tear any moment of that away.  Today I have a long list of things to do and I am excited that so many of them are really good things I am excited to do.  From put away clean clothes to grab flowers at market to water and fertilize plants ... its going to be a full and good day.  💗

Frontgate Sale

Happy Friday ... home from Amelia and so relaxed!  Five days at the beach did my head and heart such good. I have unpacked, well mostly, have the diffuser on with some good oils, have the beach playlist on and I am just taking it easy.  I do not want to lose that good head space into the reality of home and the news that public schools are 100% virtual.  Nope ... thinking all sorts of good thoughts and dreaming up the yummy frozen cocktail I will be enjoying later today.  😎

Throwing Shade

I have always love a good beach hat but the true love began this year when I bought one hat that I loved and the good hats just kept popping up on my radar.  Weeks later I now have three adorable ones that I have worn on repeat this week. The ones I have found are so cute I may need a hat wall in the house ... maybe my office? I even found one at Home Goods and added some ribbon from my stash and have truly loved it so, it is just so very cute!

Masks That Give Back

Day 2 with masks ... can you tell its on my mind?  Watching the numbers spike again in so many areas means I am in planning mode.  The kids have start dates for school, but technically that will change for one child and possibly both of them, so in planning mode I go.  Planning and praying helps me to manage my anxiety in all situations, I pray and look into all options and then let God decide which doors stay open and which ones close.  More than ever I want to beat any and all anxiety with prayer and faith. ❤

Chic Face Masks

Wearing a face mask is now a common practice for my family.  We have a box of them in the car at all times with two bags, clean + dirty, I have two in my purse at all times, we have a basket of them in the house, and the kids each have two on hand for them to grab.  As this virus climbs once again going out in public with other people near it is just a fact for us ... we wear our masks.

Homemade Salsa

Homemade salsa is a favorite in our house.  If someone spies a few of the ingredients on the counter they always say the same thing ... OOOH, are you making salsa?  I got the recipe years ago and it is a easy thing to make the day before and keep in a glass container with a lid for a weekend, trip to a friend's house, or even a trip to the lake.  We love it so much.

All The Sneaks

I think I have mentioned before that I do not wear socks.  As in do not own a pair and hate the idea of them, truly its a real thing for me. They literally make me feel claustrophobic and I get really uncomfortable.  I know, its odd, but it's true.  There are occasions where I am just freezing and a slipper won't do, but the second I warm up its goodbye to the socks. In this situation I have to go into my daughter's room and take a pair of hers and I always get busted. In that same scenario I do not wear tennis shoes.  I own a few, hardly ever wear them and when I do it is barefoot with powder every single time.  I was never athletic, and I grew up in Florida so I am very comfortable being barefoot and wearing flip flops ... it just is what it is.

Home Of The Brave

Can you believe it is already Wednesday?  What the heck ... I hope your weekend was amazing and relaxing and filled with yummy food and lots of fun.  We had a great weekend ... I was ready for the weekend to start on Thursday to be honest.  When Friday came I was literally dancing in the kitchen ready to get the fun going.  I think I put flags in every single plant on the porch, added a bow to the basket of flags on the door and managed to find all sorts of cute patriotic items for our barbecue.

#1000BlackGirlBooks

Imaage by Andrea Cipriani Mecchi

I absolutely love this story and was thrilled to read all of the details.  This story, along with so many I read, makes me so hopeful for our future as a country and community.  The youth is so hopeful, so smart and ready to make some serious changes.

I can't get enough

All The Red, White + Blue

top + shorts + shoes (sold out) + sunnies (Celine, but don't see white)

I realized yesterday when I put on one of my favorite August Morgan caftans (sold out sadly) that I definitely get very patriotic this time of year.  I find that I just gravitate toward all the red, white and blue with the beginning of July.  The hydrangeas are in full bloom and I want to wear all the Americana I can find.  Anyone else? So far it is July 3 and I have worn a navy shirt with jeans shorts, a red, white + blue caftan, and today I have planned to wear blue seersucker shorts and my summer Friday t shirt.  Yep ... its a problem.

Holiday Menu

Can you tell I am planning to celebrate the heck out of this holiday this weekend?  Yep, all in for all the extras and over the top-ness.  Just prepare yourself ... I am here for it all. This morning I am hanging bunting on the porch and I have already placed way too many flags in the pots, on the front door and in the planters ... I am feeling 1000% patriotic and I love it. If you are like me and love to place flags in any and all things ... head to Home Depot and stock up on all the sizes.

July 4th Table

What the heck happened to the rest of June ... I feel like it was crawling along for a bit and then BAM it is now July??  What??  I am watching the weather closely to see what the forecast looks like for this weekend, it seems that every afternoon this week we have had a thunderstorm.  Luckily our plans are simple for this weekend (isn't that the story for every weekend now?), so we can adjust ... but I am still wanting to dress our outdoor table for the holiday.
