It's Papergirl!!

Ok ... I am still working on the red ear thing ... your comments have been so very helpful! After talking with the OT yesterday I have set up two doctor's appointments. The only thing I am sure about is that it is definitely a neurlogical response. It is just like a red light lighting up to let you know that something is not quite right. Little Mister will be seeing an allergist (for bloodwork) and his neurologist. I will get back to you on the results. My hope ... it is a food allergy and we can get working on fixing it!!

New, fun news ... in the new Southern Living (March) my dear friend Papergirl and her fabulous kitchen are featured! So very fun!!! Here is the kitchen ...

And here is Papergirl ...

Read up ... it is a great spring article!

Have a good one ... I will continue to report on the ear!

Red ear anyone??

Ok ... I am reaching out to all you mothers. It truly takes a village to raise a child and I am hoping someone in this "village" can help me.

Little Mister, our special needs child, has this weird thing happening to him. Every once in a while - ok, more often than not - one of his ears gets hot and red. Either before or soon after that he struggles. Today while he was getting his hair cut he got very agitated. He doesn't usually do this during a haircut. He seemed to get more and more frustrated and even hit our sweet Hair Girl. Once we were done he seemed better, but then on the way home the red, hot ear appeared. He then got upset and increasingly more and more agitated. By the time we got home he was done and I put him straight to bed. He was too spent to even eat.

Anyone got any ideas???? I tried to research it online and got very little. I found a red ear syndrome that I will continue to check out and then some entries on autism and food allergies. We have removed all the recommended things from his diet (dairy, food coloring, sugar - most of it - caffeine, artificial sweeteners) except for gluten. This could be a gluten allergy, but he is anything but skinny and waisting away. He is stocky and very muscular, not at all slim and skinny!!

I can find very little online ... do you have any information? Anyone heard of this before?

Rain, rain ... please go away!

I hate to whine ... but rain please go away!!! I know I am being selfish, what with this drought and all, but please cut this special ed mom a break! He does not do rain ... which makes me dislike it as well.

Oh, what to do? How about hold a venti nonfat latte in one hand and read blogs with the other? Works for me?

Tons of monogramming today ... can't stay long, but maybe more later.

My goal ... to be the "Customer of the Week" at the local Lucky Buck. Although "Kate" will probably need to change her requested drink. Mine is way boring ... not like Charlotte the current customer of the week that requests a ... Grande-nonfat-no whip-extra hot-extra foam- Hot Chocolate. What the hell is that mess? You know she is high maintenance ...

Off to work ... stay dry! MPM

I love me some Kirby!!!

I just watched last Thursday's Lipstick Jungle so I am officially caught up. I love this show! I was very sceptical because of my first love affair with Sex and the City ... but I have been quite impressed. Three episodes and I am completely hooked! Though after watching this episode I am pretty sure Nico and Kirby will not be "hanging" out any more. Your thoughts?
I was thinking Joe Bennett was darn near perfect. Rich, romantic, sensitive, thoughtful ... what more could you want? But, then they revealed his flaw ... that he is not very social. He wants all of his time with Victory to be all theirs and not shared with others. I do see her dilema, but would this be that bad? I could get used to not sharing my quality time. He seems pretty busy and as long she balances her time doing other things she likes ... is it all that bad? What do you think?
Are you completely addicted like me?

Quiet ... sweet quiet!

Do you hear that? Yes ... it is the sound of my entire house completely quiet!!! The only sound I hear is the sound of me typing on the computer. Oh ... the sweet sound of nothing! My favorite thing in the world to do is to be alone in my house. I can get SO much done. The boys are away on play dates and Babycakes and Lawyer are grocery shopping.

I just caught a quick segment on the Food Network and found this amazing recipe! If I only ate meat ... I would be making it for myself. Since I don't I will make it this week for the family! I could just smell the onions and wine cooking ... YUM!!

Get Yo' Man Chicken

2 tablespoons olive oil 6 chicken thighs, skinless
1 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoons pepper
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup white wine
1 (14.5-ounce) can crushed tomatoes in thick puree
1 tablespoon fresh or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon fresh or 1/2 tablespoon dried rosemary
1 tablespoon lemon-pepper
Hot buttered rice
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves

Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
Pat chicken dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper. Brown the chicken, meat-side down first, and turning once, about 4 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate to reserve.
Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of oil from the pan.

Add onion to the pan and saute until tender, roughly 3 minutes. Add the stock and wine and stir, scrapping any brown bits off the bottom of the pan. Turn heat to high and reduce by half, about 3 minutes. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the dried herbs and lemon pepper. Add the chicken thighs back in. Cover and cook on medium low for 40 minutes.

Remove chicken from liquid and serve on hot buttered rice. Ladle the sauce on top and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Please ... motivate me!!!

Ok ... I need some insentive! I would love to paint this weekend, but I have to say I am not motiviated! I need some pushing ...

The above photo is my entry way. You can click on it to see it upclose! I would love to finish the mustard up the stairs and down the hall. Your thoughts?

Here is the mustard up close ...

And this is the baseboard in my kitchen. It is flat black and I love it! I want to continue it in the entry and the upstairs hall. Also, I want the handrail up the stairs black.

Please, motivate me ... get me in the mood. Tell me you are all coming over and are bringing wine and I will get out the brushes. Hee ... hee... j/k!!

I am hoping you will get me motivated so I can do it tomorrow and Sunday afternoon!

Your thoughts?

The Sober Hero

Little Mister is learning to spell! Let's just start there. So ... he comes home the other day with this cute picture he drew at school. There was a post it attached with a note from his teacher. The post it said "Enjoy!". I set it aside with all the other daily paperwork to look at later. Little Lawyer noticed it and says to me ... "Mom, what is a Sober Hero?". Well ... that explains it all. I am assuming he was going for Super Hero? But maybe not ...

This is me ... he drew it yesterday ...

I am looking pretty fabulous, don't you think? And here is the love note he attached to it ...

He is quite the charmer!

Oh ... and yes, the photos of the stair project I was working on and promised you.

I love it! But, now I want to paint the walls mustard and the hand rails black. Will it ever end?

Have a great one ... and pray it does not rain today. Little Mister "hates" rain and asked me to pray it would not rain today. And an apology to all the parents at gymnastics yesterday. If I did not previously tell you ... my son does not do rain. Not.at.all!!!

Clemson Girl ... where do you get the cute wine in the pink can? I am thinking that will be standard issue on Tuesdays and Thursdays during rainy gymnastics!

You can call me Kate!

Ok ... this happens to me all the time! I go to Starbucks , aka the Lucky Buck, and they ask me for my name. Pretty straight forward. So ... about once a month (and I go to the Lucky Buck about twice a week, ok three) they get my name messed up. And every time it is the same screw up ... Kate! Atleast I like the name. So, you can call me Kate! If it was only Kate Spade. We can all dream!

Love, Love, Love all my new readers!!! Keep em coming. I love your comments and your support. It is way fun.

Get out the umbrella ... it is raining in Atlanta today! MPM

Why are men so dense?

Ok ... so the dinner last night was super yummy and the quality time (American Idol) was great, but why is my man (and probably most) so dense? Why does he wait until I rant and rage to take care of things? I know I am different than he is and I understand the whole Mars/Venus thing, but what the hell? And as for the wine and candles? Not so much!!! His response ... I knew we had wine at home and isn't there a candle lit in the kitchen? For real ... seriously? I know him so well. When his head hit the pillow last night he scratched this minor drama off his list and moved on. I can just hear the voice in his head ... "Crisis averted! I brought home food from her favorite restaurant, watched American Idol and only tried to log on to the computer twice. That problem has been handled!" But ... why does he wait until I am on fire to take care of things? Does this happen to anyone else or just me ....

So ... I am working on spring products and I am a lacking in spring ideas! I have found (Thanks, Paper Girl) some cute waffle slippers and matching spa wraps to monogram. I always have the fabulous Tervis Tumblers and my monogrammed basics. Oh, and I did find some adorable coolers ... but help .... please!!! I need some fresh products! Have you seen any cute, preppy gifts for spring and graduation?

Have a great one ... I will be plugging away in the work room today! MPM

2.19.2008

His response ...

And this is why I keep him around ...

As always, you are right. Even though I make my living as a wordsmith I don't believe words ever could capture the level of appreciation and admiration I have for you surviving two weeks alone. Of course, to repeat your suggested language for a Valentine's card would be the equivalent of seppuku, neverthless here goes: I know I am an idiot (but I am your idiot) and I love you. It has been wonderful to spend quality time (if you exclude my moaning and groaning about how deathly ill I have been) with you and our wonderful children. I will see you soon with dinner and perhaps a bottle of wine and candles ....

Ofcourse, he is way smarter than me because I had to look up the word seppuku. Hope you all have a great night! I am eating thai (my fav) and drinking white wine ... yum!

Is it spring?

The weather outside is so beautiful today I would swear it was spring. But is it? I can not remember what the groundhog said was coming ... do you?

Ok ... so I have now caught up on my sleep, had a couple of days of really good coffee, almost put away all the laundry I washed and done almost all of the backlog of monogramming. I should be feeling pretty good.

But wait ... I am really kind of hacked off!

Valentines Day was Thursday and it is now Tuesday and I am tired of waiting for my Valentines card to arrive!

So ... this is the email I have written to send to Lawyer at the office this afternoon -

Hey! I know you are just getting home from a long trip out of town. I also know that you have been stressed beyond the imagination and came home feeling like crud with two ear infections and very little sleep. But now that you are rested and beginning to recover, I would like to point some things out.
I, too, have been on a very long trip. One where I am alone with three kids. (One of which is special needs and for some reason has been quite frustrated lately!) During my vacation, two of them got sick. That required three doctor's visits and quite a few sleepness nights. Although I am not sick ... I am suffering from a disease which shortens ones patience and makes one quite frustrated!!!
Like I said I know you have had a rough two weeks, but it has not been bon bons and spa dates here at the home front. A Valentines card would have been greatly appreciated! One that said ...
I am sorry to have left you at home alone! I miss you and hope you are holding up ok! I know I acted like a horses --- before I left and I am really sorry! I can't wait to come home and hang out and spend some quality time with you and the kids! Happy Valentines Day, I love you!

I am just saying ...

2.18.2008

Hello! Good morning ... I hope you too are enjoying a yummy cup of joe! If I had my way today I would be having mine in the pink cup above ... but instead I am using my favorite cup from La Madeline. Almost as fabulous!!!

Another great night of doing nothing and going to sleep extra early. I am feeling more and more like myself with every night's sleep. I was not sleeping well with Lawyer out of town and it really caught up with me! I am better with each morning. And ofcourse, with Lawyer back to making the coffee ... all is almost perfect!

Ok ... find of the month here! I am addicted to monograms ... quess that is the reason I own a monogramming business! And this is what I found today ...

Yes, ladies these are monogrammed car mats!!! And I thought the monogram on the back of my car was the best thing out there ... maybe a close second. I ordered a set for the Yukon this morning. I tried to upload my selection ... but no go. I ordered the one in the center on the bottom. They are beige mats edged with black and white polka dots complete with a black monogram. So stinking cute. Next month ... I will order the trunk mat! I only ordered mats for the front two seats. No sense wasting good mats on grubby little muddy shoes. Don't you agree? Check out the site ... www.ggbailey.com. Super cute mats and pretty reasonable!!! Custom mats for $100 ... pretty cool!

Ok ... so on this President's Day my fifth grader asked me the following question ...

Him: Mom ... do you know the first five presidents?
Me: Ofcourse I do ... let me finish making coffee and we can discuss it. (a.k.a. let me check google and get back to you)

The answer: Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe.

Just in case you too get caught with no answer!

Have a great one ... MPM

Lawyer is back in the house!!!

Can you believe it??? Our Daddy is finally home!!! I can hardly believe it myself until I find another mess he has made. Then I realize, YEP!! He's home! But, all in all it is fabulous! My parents actually just left so I am taking a quick moment to blog and then it will be alone errand time. Oh ... the words sound so sweet! ALONE, ERRAND TIME!!! I can almost smell the grande nonfat latte brewing at Starbucks!

I had to skip out of our monthly friends get together last night and it really bummed me out. But, I was completely exhausted and at my limit of frustration with all that has been going on here at home and all I wanted to do was take a hot bath, crawl into bed and read stupid magazines. I feel terrible for skipping out ... but it was time to relax and try to catch up on some sleep. Today I feel rested, relaxed and sort of back to normal. Thanks for letting me skip my BFFs ... you know I missed you all terribly!

If you have a second ... check out http://www.sarahandabraham.blogspot.com/ ... she wrote a little story about me and it was so sweet. And contrary to what you have heard ... she thinks me easy going and laid back. Apparently she hasn't seen my car or my pantry. Oh well ... it is a great dream!

Have a great one ... MPM

Happy Love Day!!!

Happy Valentines Day to all of you! This is my favorite day of the year!!! I am a little behind on getting my kids their happies, but I am working on that as soon as Babycakes gets dressed for preschool. It would be easier if Little Mister was not 104 degrees and the hotest thing in town. But, he is sweet and that seems to make it all better.

And ... my gift, Lawyer is leaving San Antonio tomorrow morning at 7:00 am. Praise God!!!

I will post again later ... Love to you all!!! XOXO

2.13.2008

You gotta get you some of these!!!

You must get these!!! They are so good ... I have had two this season and probably will be breaking my diet for another tomorrow. They are super yummy and the CUTEST things I have seen so far!!! They are only available through tomorrow ... so hurry!!!

Yummy ... if they only delivered!

Nothing!!!

I have nothing for you ... I am so over this single parenting gig! I have now resorted to tears and a lot of them! I had arranged for a sitter today to watch the kids so I could have four hours to myself and now have had to cancel. Little Mister woke me up at 6 am with a fever of 103.5 ... WHAT THE HELL! The worst part? Little Mister does not do medicine. To get anything down him it requires two adults and a lot of strength. I plan on asking the doctor for an alternative method of administering drugs today! I called Lawyer (at 5:30 am his time) and broke down into a huge puddle. If one more of my children has to stay home from school I will lose it. It is not that I do not love them dearly and not that I am not worried about him, because I really am, it is just that I have been full on Mommy 24 hours a day for 12 days!! It has now broken me! I have dishes in my sink and my bed has not been made in three days. Yesterday I finally showered after two solid days. I think I finally got to Lawyer's sensitive side. He may have actually have booked a flight home on Friday morning. We shall see ....

I will leave you with this email I got this morning. I guess it could be worse, my kids could be crafty!!!

WHY PARENTS DRINK:
A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Dad.' With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter.

Dear Dad:
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it's not only the passion...Dad she's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy. In the meantime we will pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your grandchildren.

Love,
Your Son John

P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the report card that's in my center desk drawer. I love you. Call me when it's safe to come home.

2.12.2008

Ok ... a new day and hopefully I will get a lot done. My parents are coming for the weekend and I need to get a lot done before they arrive!!! I have some monogramming orders to finish and some projects I would love to start so my very handy Dad can help out while he is here. He loves a project and I LOVE the help!

My cute friend hikinco at Queeda Mae, http://www.hikinco.blogspot.com/, asked for Valentine Party details. Well, I am sad to say I will not be hosting one this year. Very, very sad! It was either give up the idea or start smoking crack. I am not a fan of drugs so the party had to go. Since Lawyer is gone and all the kids are sick something had to be scrapped or my sanity would be the one to go!! We have decided to meet for lunch on Thursday instead. It will not be the same for me but I think it could be great fun. I am, however, having a fun dinner for the kids on Thursday night which I will give to you in DETAIL. I love Valentines Day and love to go all out!!! I will give you some details from last year ... when I had my friends and their little ones over for lunch. The photos above are the table setting and the centerpiece in the dining room. I hope you like them ... I love all things vintage. The napkins were set with vintage hankies and the bowl in the centerpiece photo is filled with antique red and pink Christmas ornaments. I topped it off with cute little stuffed strawberries I found at the antique show. I will post about the menu tonight! The salad was super yummy!
Little Lawyer is home today not feeling well ... so think of me today! He can be so grumpy ... but I have hopes he will be sweet. Or I will be taking away the DS ...

2.11.2008

SERIOUSLY???

Ok ... so I am checking my email tonight before turning in and I get one from Little Lawyer's room mom regarding teacher appreciation week. She is looking for great ideas to let their teacher know how much we appreciate her. And since she is the most amazing teacher we have ever had I was free with my thoughts. Then ... I reread the email ...
And this is what it says ...
Please note (and I know you'll say D'uh) that we can not accept bottles of anything alcoholic, anything with tobacco, firearms and/or pornography.
Seriously ... well, I guess I need to come up with some new thoughts since my original idea of a fifth of vodka, a carton of cigarettes, a bazooka and a subscription to PlayGirl is no longer an option. What the hell????

My man better watch his back ...

Ok ... so I am reading through my daily bits of news and I came across this story...

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- A man who hid his wife's body for 23 years in a steel drum in the couple's suburban Australian backyard was convicted Saturday of her murder.
Frederick Boyle, 58, claimed he hid the body of Edwina Boyle out of panic after finding her dead in bed at their home on the outskirts of the southern city of Melbourne on October 6, 1983.
He had pleaded not guilty to her murder at the outset of his weeklong trial, but a Victoria state Supreme Court jury found him guilty Saturday.
Boyle had told his two daughters their mother ran off with a truck driver, but a son-in-law found the remains in the 170-liter (44-gallon) drum while tidying the yard in October 2006
.

All I am saying is it has been 9 days with no hubby and currently he has no return ticket home ... I can probably find a 44 gallon drum in the next week to put in the back yard and claim abandonment ... I'm just saying ...

Sick people need soup!!!

Ofcourse ... with Lawyer out of town all three kids are sick! Does that not beat all? The only thing that makes it better for me (I am dark and twisty) is that Lawyer himself is really sick! We are talking fever, chills, sneezing, coughing, full on flu! So he keeps calling me all pathetic from Texas telling me how sick he is ... and what am I to do for him? Babycakes has a wicked cough and an ear infection and the boys have the same wicked cough. I took her to the urgent care yesterday at 10:00 am and sat in the waiting room for an hour with a hundred people with the same cough!!! The verdict from the doctor ... the cough goes with a bad virus circling around and the ear infection needed drugs. I am so tempted today to take the boys to the ped today and ask for meds. Their cough is keeping me up at night and can't be restful for them either!

So ... my favorite story ... as I am checking out at the urgent care Lawyer calls me to tell me, once again, how sick he is! The doctor hears this conversation between us and says to me ... please tell him he is four states away and an adult ... he can take care of himself! Loved it!!! Felt good about it all day!

2.10.2008

Whole wheat ... are you sure it wasn't cardboard?

Do not make my mistake!!! Do not order the whole wheat crust from Papa Johns!!! I was apparently thinking I was ordering high end pizza instead of scary pizza that my kids seem to find exciting! Well ... my veggie pizza with the whole wheat crust tasted like the cardboard box it came in ...

Not that you would be as stupid as I was, but I'm just saying ...

I am afraid of the mailbox ... are you?

How many times do you go to the mailbox and actually get nothing but junk? Seriously ... where is the real mail? You know the letters from friends and family and the invitations asked me to come to fabulous places? Instead I get crap ... magazines I do not want, magazines I do not need, silly papers, flyers and more useless things. What am I to do with this stuff? I have to pitch it or recycle it ... neither of which I chose to do. So, what else do I do????

Log onto this website, www.catalogchoice.com, and reduce the crap in your mailbox!

It will take a couple of weeks, but then all I will be left with is the fabulous mail I have been waiting to receive. And in my spare time I can decide what to wear to all of the fabulous events I will be invited to ...

Now ... if I could only figure out a way to get rid of all those emails I get that seem to never go away even though I decline them all the time.

Consuela is pooped!

These were mine all day yesterday!!! I decided we would have a marathon cleaning day and work all day until late afternoon, get showered, gussied up and hit the town. Of course with three kids that meant semi-cute clothes, dinner at Johnny Rockets and a splurge run to Target! But all in all it worked out great. They were pooped and we were all jammied and tucked in at 8:45 pm sharp!!! Yummy!!!

So, back to the cleaning ... we do not have a cleaning person. When we started therapy for Little Mister last Spring my cleaning "lady" had to go. It was sad and I know I cried ... HARD!!! It is not that I do not enjoy cleaning my own house, because I actually do, but it is big and hard to clean all in one day. Since Lawyer has been MIA these past couple to weeks I have been spot cleaning and it is making me crazy. So, CRAZY mommy (as the 11 year old termed me) a.k.a Consuela and her buckets hit the house and was not stopping until it was done! Oh, the shit you can find when you realize your kids has been only half doing their chores! Like, Little Mister who "makes" his bed with all the dirty clothes still in it, or Little Lawyer who stuffs things under the bed instead of putting them away, or Babycakes who decides to "feed" the fish after I have completely cleaned and edged the jack and jack bathroom and I discover 100,000 brown fish beebees to be cleaned up. I lost my shit so many times yesterday at them I am sure they will obey for atleast a week! Little Lawyer finally said to me ... "Mom, you have to let me help you, you are losing it!!!" Yeah, I know pretty funny in retrospective ... but bad at the time! My friend MAC said that your kids being afraid of you is a good thing when they out number you, but I do still have some guilt!

So, on this bright, shiny Sunday am I am proud to say I have cleaned this house ... all three floors, five bedrooms, 4 and 1/2 baths, hardwoods and carpet of it! Now, we just have to find an outside activity to last all day so I can enjoy how clean it is again tonight! Last night I was way too tired to fully enjoy the shine and the smell of it all!!!

Any one else clean their own house? Do you have a system? I would love to hear it ...

2.08.2008

Enjoy this yummy pink and red photo! I would love to see these sitting on my counter ... but since I do not bake and don't have a cook on staff, that will not happen!

The boys are off at school and Babycakes is feeling great today! I am going to count my blessings. I need to finish planning my Valentine brunch today ... I LOVE Valentines day. I also have a few things to monogram for Shop Girl and baby things to finish for Paper Girl. And lastly, I am trying to swim out of the sea of laundry I have upstairs!!!

It is a glorious day here in Atlanta. The weather is cold and crisp and the sky is blue ... my favorite kind of day! Have a great one ...

2.07.2008

I am so in trouble!!

Ok, so Babycakes is sick ... or seems to be ... and was up last night again with a fever. This is the oddest thing I have ever experienced. She has now woken up twice in a week at 11:00 pm with a high fever, whines and moans for a couple of hours, finally falls back to sleep and then seems perfect when she wakes up in the am! Very strange! We are going to the ped tomorrow to have her checked out head to toe!

So ... when the boys got up this morning and were ready to leave for school I had the following conversation with Little Lawyer about getting to school. I usually drive them to make sure they are not tardy and that Little Mister makes it to class without making 100 trips to see everyone and say hello before the tardy bell rings. And this is a real problem ... he has so many tardies that I am one away from getting a visit from a social worker! NO. LIE!

Me: I need a huge favor. Your sister is not feeling well at all and I would like her to be able to sleep in. Can you please ride the bus to school this morning?

Him: Mom, you know I do not like to ride the bus!

Me: Yes, I know ... but please do this for me today since she is sick. I would really appreciate it.

Him: The bus arrives too late and then I do not get all my morning work done and have to dock myself in my points register.

Me: I will write a note to your teacher asking her for grace this morning since Babycakes is sick and you are doing me a huge favor.

Him: Mom I really don't want to ride the bus!

Me: How about $5?

Him: Done. See you later!

Seriously? This really happened ... I must have completely lost my mind. I just bought a favor from an 11 year old! And we are only 4 days into Lawyer's trip. I am completely screwed!!

Isn't it precious? I am in love with this clutch from Kate Spade. Of course I could have bought two of them with what I just paid for two new lamps with shades for the den. But ... do love them too! Ok ... so I made this huge to do list for all the FREE time I was going to have when Lawyer was away. And now I am looking at it and realize I have only just cracked at it! Seriously? Was I high on crack? What was I thinking? FREE time? When was that going to happen? It is time to rethink and start calling people to get this list done. I have already called my friend MAC and asked her to send her painter over on Saturday to quote some work next week. I would like the stairwell repainted, the hand rails black, the back of the front door black and the upstairs hallway repainted! We had the hall and stairs done when we moved in four years ago, but life does happen and it NEEDS to be touched up. I can no longer fix it with a Magic Eraser!!!

Babycakes is under the weather today and so we are running errands together! We are headed to the fabric store for new swatches for the den. I have two very ugly purple chairs at the upholstery shop waiting for new fabric. They are some SCARY chairs I picked up at Lakewood Antiques and they need a complete overhaul. I do have an addiction for ugly chairs - only those with great bones! The addiction scares my friends, but this does not stop me from adopting scary chairs!

Have a good one ...

Super cheap Valentine Happies

Ok, the first one ...

This is an adorable scarf I found at Target for $7!!! It screams Lilly to me with the lemons, limes and oranges! It will be perfect for my friend Nantucket. I also got it for myself to wear with jeans and my new spring pink driving Mocs from Lands End!

Ok, for this one you need a pink striped bucket from Michaels, pink striped ribbon also from Michaels, conversation hearts from Walmart and pink gingham glasses from the dollar spot at Target. Babycakes cute little friend at school is getting this one!

These are for the boys' teachers! This is a $1 red heart bowl from Michaels filled with pink and white M&Ms I got in small bags at Walmart and tied it up with the same striped ribbon from Michaels. The M&Ms are sold in small bags with single colors. You can get pink, white or red. I got the pink and white ones since my bowls are red!

These are super cute!!! I got these $1 soaps at Walmart! They come in six colors, but I only got the pink and green ones. Shocking, I know!!! I will put these in pink striped buckets from Michaels (in photo before) and tie them with ribbon and the pink gingham sunglasses. These are for Babycakes' BFFs. I am so excited about these!!! They are so cute and so super cheap!! If I know Babycakes she will be wearing her sunglasses in the bathtub while washing with her soap. That is just the kind of girl she is ...

I love all things vintage! These are perfect!!! These cupcakes are on the cover of Country Living Magazine, one I read every month!! If I could only bake, which I can't, I would have these sitting on my kitchen counter right now. But, since I can't I have a tray of two bite vanilla cupcakes complete with pink icing and sprinkles. They must be lacking in flavor because all the kids are only eating the frosting and ditching the rest. And my kids do not pass up junk food. It doesn't exist much in our home and when they find it they eat it up pretty quickly!!!

Ok, to update the photos I have been promising for over a week! To make the following happies you need one Walmart, one Target (maybe two if it is a popular one) and one Michaels. If you are lucky like me they are all in the same general area. Lucky for me - not so lucky for Lawyer!!

Ok, so I am a retard and for some reason must make this into two posts! I am so sorry ...

Pink ... all the way down to your toes!!

Ok, so I am almost done pulling together pictures for you. Seems like I would have more time without Lawyer home at night, but I have to say I got sucked into 20/20 last night watching the update on Natalee Holloway! I could not peel myself away. Such a sad story!!!

Ok, while you are waiting on posts you MUST pick up some of these adorable flip flops at Old Navy!!! This is my pink photo of the day! Got these yesterday (ok, I bought three different pairs) and love them. And at $5 each you can afford three pairs (maybe more)!!! They are so cute!!! And with the fact that the super retarded weather in Atlanta says it will be 73 today you will probably see me wearing them. Maybe, haven't decided yet!!!

Off to preschool and donuts with the one you love! Did they not read I am working out and on a diet? Oh, well will have to run later! More photos to come ...
